I just wanted to share my good news with everyone.
A couple of weeks ago I found a small lump in my breast (which has been tender for a few weeks). I originally put the tenderness down to some kind of strain, we've been doing a lot of painting, decorating and gardening recently. Then when I found the lump, I did what I think most of us would do and went to the doctor. When she said she could feel it too I was understandably upset and a little panicky. :uhoh
Anyway to cut a long story short, I've had my mammogram and appointment at the hospital and have been given the all-clear. Huge sigh of relief. The doctor couldn't find the lump and thinks the tenderness is muscular. :D
We've basically had our lives on hold for the past couple of weeks but thankfully everything's okay and we can now continue to look forward to eventually moving to NZ. We thought we might have to postpone the idea for a very long time if it was bad news. :no
So as soon as we get OH pre-assessed qualification back (it's been 3 weeks since we applied), we can decide on the best route to take to get there.
Sorry it's a long post but just wanted to share the good news. :clap

OMG - Had the same thing last Nov - can totally empathaise with you - a word of warning - when you have your medicals, and send them in, make sure you send in a copy of the report from the hospital stating the results of your mammogram and ultrasound, with a letter from your GP, NZIS came back to us and wanted a letter from the doctor and a report. So if you send it all in straight away. may save you a bit of time! ;)
Look forward to chatting on Saturday on Scarborough!

Hi All
I did post a thread about the dreaded C word a while ago but with no joy. I wondered if any of you knew anyone that had been refused PR on past medical history of Breast Cancer?
I have breast cancer 6 years ago at the age of 32. They got it early and after treatment and surgery there is no reason to think that I should ever have further trouble. I am fit and healthy and all is well.
At a recent conference an NZ doctor siad he belived that the early treatment of breast cancer is now so effective that he belives that it will soon be down graded from a fatal disease to say the same as that of asthma or something similar - can have the potental to be fatal but if managed and caught EARLY (and girls EARLY is the best thing you can do for yourselves believe me) there is now reason why it cannot be irradicated altogether.
So, back to my point after a ramble - do you know anyone who has been refused PR due to a past medical of this? I think this is really why we are going over as visitors, then work visa then PR route - if they do throw me out we will have had a year or two living a different life whilst we still could.
Thanks
Nanny x

Nanny
That must have been a terrible time for you. Glad to see that you're all okay now though.
As for the question on PR I'm fairly new to all this but haven't heard of anybody being refused PR for this.
Hopefully someone else on here will be able to give you a more definitive answer.

Nanny sorry to hear this you must have gone through hell!
{{{ B i g h u g s!! }}}
I would imagine (and I am only guessing here) that immigration would want a letter and a report of your treatment and prognosis from the consultant who dealt with your case. If you are jetting off it might be worth getting these before you go, (much easier to chase up when you're in the same time zone ;) ) but then again when you come to do your ITA they may want a more recently dated letter, but you could always get back in touch at that point in time and ask for a re-write if the same letter they have on file but with a more recent date - have i made sense or is it just a ramble????
Anyway good luck and a postive mental attitude works wonders!!
