A friend recommended AMJ Campbell as a good shipping company to use from Toronto to New Zealand. They're coming to the house on July 18th to do a survey of our stuff. Has anyone else used them? Any particular questions we should ask (besides sorting out insurance etc.)
Wendy, the AMJ Campbell rep, told me that she's had four enquiries about moving to New Zealand in the past week (which is a lot for Ontario). Could be the beginning of a mass migration...

Thank you for posting this (even though 7 months ago). I can't remember what I was searching for when I found it.
I just got the AMJ Campbell rep to do a run through our house and he guesstimates that our contents would be between 8-10,000 pounds and would be slightly larger than a 20' container would hold. It's nice to know. It's unfortunate (in some respects) that the Dragonlady has so much furniture. Maybe I can get her to sell a couple of those antique armoires after we move.
He's going to be sending me some numbers next week based on:
1) moving the entire contents
2) moving our personal effects, storing the rest until we decide to complete the move
Very nice guy. Very professional. He says that they are affiliated with FIDI (http://fidi.com/) and FAIM (http://www.fidi-faim.com/), which gives me some measure of ease. Guaranteed prices, no surprises at the receiving end, everything inclusive with one bill. INSERT SIGH OF RELIEF HERE. I've read some horror stories here. I know that the really great moves probably don't get the same kind of press coverage, but it's nice to see a company that does it all.
