I am looking at booking our flights out to NZ in Sept with singapore airlines as they seem about the best price/route/stopover combination. Their website says the in-flight individual lcd screen enertainment sysytem (a must have in our opinion) is fitted to "all our Wiseman aircraft" (whatever they are?) but i cant find out from their website if it is on my actual flight or not. Am i missing something, on the site, or have all their planes got em?, or has anyone flown singapore and not had the screens fitted?

I would think all the long-haul ones at least would have them. Maybe they're talking about domestic flights not having them, assuming they do domestic flights?

used Singapore airlines lots of times and can't fault them yet. Also Changi airport is one of the best to spend a couple of hours in transit.

We've flown on SIA a few times now and can't fault them either. We've always had individual entertainment screens on all flights. Excellent service, especially if you have young children!

Also the fact that EVERYONE gets on demand movies/TV is the clincher for me!!

I did post before saying that SIA in-flight entertainment in Ecomony is better than what BA offer even in First despite being 10% of the cost, in my opinion that can't be bad.

Its great - in fact on a recent NZ Air flight to oZ I was unbeleivably put out that we had to slum it and have 1 sreen for every 12 seats. Not helped by the fact taht every time hubby got up for the loo he bashed his head on the one above him.

SIA got to grips with this ages ago. You will get individual screens, and you can choose when your movies start. And they have a really good selection of movies tv and music.

this is a good point, as it was a bit of a bummer when I didnt realise that the films on Cathay Pacific start on a set time...I had to watch the beginning at the end :laugh , and SIA have a much better selection.

Best part about the LCD screens is the pre-installed gameboy. Kids stay busy - what else could one want.

BTW, Air NZ is pulling out of Singapore from October and will route UK passengers through HK. They are going to use the spare aircraft capacity to fly to Shanghai. So SIA will be the only choice through Singapore (unless you wan't to hop through kangaroo land as well :D ).

I found skytrax (http://www.airlinequality.com/) really helpful for deciding who to fly long haul with. If you go to the individual airline pages from the tabs on the top of the screen they give star ratings for various aspects including "inflight entertainment" and "cabin crew assistance with children". you can also get information about food, seat pitch etc and read passenger comments. Well worth a trawl before parting with cash. hth.
