Hello guys,

Just a quick update more I suppose for it's own sake!

Dorree Bonners arrived today and packed most of the house with the crate packing tomorrow. I'll give you a review when the process ends, but so far, no problems and they really tried to reduce space (even taking apart wardrobes themselves). A little beer money finished their day.

My house is packed though they've left the bed. I can't bring myself to sleep at our friends tonight for fear of an open home ripe for burglaries.

By the way.. no internet (its been packed and I'm at a friend's).. I'm already suffering internet paralysis!!! :wah

I have mixed feelings as to the excitement of going. One part of me still doesn't believe I'm going (more in the sense that I still feel that my house is home and not a house yet), then the next five minutes we're excited. Not feeling sad at the moment as the pre-departure work has been high and no time to.

Nevertheless, we have planned this well (I hope) and all the little "to-do" lists have really paid off making the most difficult part of the emigration process getting paid from work (finally, though six weeks late) and getting O2 to give me a new phone as it had been back to the shop 3 times for the same repair. Something tells me they didn't ever even identify the problem.

Nice things that have happened is that we have even more to go with as I paid too much into the tax account and had a little more after the straggly extra shifts we booked before we left. Our friend lent us their car and our others are letting us stay with them in the last few days.

I have no cars (the guy who said innit after every sentence didn't buy it, but strangely, phoned me a week after at 11pm to ask if I still had it.. I said no, he replied.. "Well, um.. have you got anything else to sell?"... you wierdo! He couldn't manage to get himself down to see the car that he said he would buy "120%" after he even asked me not to sell it. Everybody should have a call from this man.. it does wonders for your ego.. It makes you say "at least I'm not that... (fill in the blank)"!

Anyway, the update is in part a big thankyou to all the help I have received either from reading other postings or from people direct replies.. so "Thankyou".

I'll keep you posted, but we'll leave in a few more days, so wish us luck!

All the luck in the world - I remember the last few days so well, the mixed emotions were something to behold. Chilled out one moment, a screaming anti-Christ the next ...... ahh yes - I remember it well.

Have fun and look forward to your next update.

Enjoy your last few days in the UK and have a safe trip over.
Thanks for the flight info re EVA. Feed back on on your flight and Doree would be very helpfull when you get time.
Im beginnning to feel a bit like your stalker, I booked EVA flights over for us on the 6th (I just hope the house is done by then) decided to go a few days later than orriginally planned but go dirrect.
Think we will also use Doree Bonner as they come recommended and their price was good.

Enjoy Taipei.

Hi Guys,

Just logged onto the site and had fun reading the replies! Now am homeless! Dorree Bonner left today. Overall I was very happy with the packing service. Yesterday there were 5 men (two lads).. the two lads were takers of frequent cigarette breaks but the three blokes upstairs really grafted. There was a little work left over today that was finished by the time the crate arrived.. again the two young lads were slow workers but some of this may just be age versus the attitude of "this is what my trade is". The third chap today was dynamite. He took the time to repair the backing on one of our units before packing it and was so fast.

Our estimate came to 1100 cubic feet and the container was 1000 cubic feet so we knew it'd be a tight fit. It all looked good to start, then more boxes came out.. then more.. then the palpitations started.. would we get it all in? We had nominated some of the cheaper wardrobes to stay. The older lad felt it was his mission to get it all in the container so, we had a bet. Of course he won the ice-lolly!

We were so pleased we gave them a little more beer money. The last walk around the house was poignant. We started there as students and left as adults. So much history. Yet now, we are ready to start the next chapter.

I hope the rest of the Dorree Bonner experience is as good, but we had no problems and they really did try that little bit harder from taking some warddrobes to bits that they really didn't have to, to fixing furniture before they packed it. I must say that I have no doubt that my light sabres will arrive intact. I'm looking forward to a garden big enough to swing them in.. yes Luke, I am your father!!!

Right, well time to sign off. I have my last shift tomorrow night, as does my wife. We have Thursday off in which I hope to transfer some more money, then on Friday we fly.

Cheers again and the review will be on-going.

By the way is anyone else the same?.. in the last month or so, every pound I spend causes me pain as I realise I'm spending $3! Best to start thinking in dollars before you leave methinks!

KJ :cheers
