My son and daughter both have birthdays soon after we arrive in NZ and I have been trying to find on-line kids toy shops (like toy r us or argos) for NZ but with little luck. Im not very good at this internet thing. Where is the best place to buy kids toys, they both want folding scootters with the flashing lights on the decks. Easy enough in the UK but I don't want the weight of carrying them over on the plane and their birthdays will be before our shipment arrives.

Have a look also on trademe, you will have to set up an account though after you arrive but they have some pretty good deals.

There is nowhere near the same variety or quantity here as in the UK, and quality is often questionable here, my advice would be bring it from the uk, if you can't carry it, then pack it in container, and bring all of their toys, don't know how old your kids are but things like little tykes is very limited, and cost much more, you can easily sell out grown toys here, for a good price too!!

Have had a nightmare trying to get scooters and friends here have the same complaints. There's nothing in Warehouse or K-Mart (apart from little Dora scooters). Apparently, they'll probably be getting more in nearer to christmas - I just don't think this is the time of year to get them (although we've been looking for two months). Just a real dearth of scooters at the moment! Agreed, Trademe is probably the place to look!
