Probably a girlie question here, or do you guys cook?
Items I must have that may not be available in NZ
Nicky Clarke shampoo & conditiner is it avail?
Nivea cream?
Spices for Indian and chinese cooking, I will buy unopened ones?
Oyster sauce for my stir fries?
Clipper herbal teas?
Ready squished and in a jar ginger and garlic? I know I am lazy!
We sell ozzie wine here, how many cases of 12 do you think we can get away with in our shipping as personal drinking material, we can put them into different boxes. It would be cheaper even if we have to pay duty on it as its bought at cost price. I was hoping to take 5 cases.
No Paxo and oxo I will stock up now :exit
Anything else you can think of I would miss?
I will be in Wellington, if they sell it here, I am happy to stock up my container for you guys. Just PM me with request I have 2 weeks until the shippers take my stuff.
I have also been told the shoes are not as good as in the UK and boy am a shoeahollic!
Sorry just realise I put it in the wrong place can you delete messages??? and put them somewhere else, I'm a real novice.

I can tell you for a fact that oyster sauce, the spices and garlic and ginger is easily available in Wellington. If you're in a smaller place you may have to drive to find it, but you can certainly get it in NZ
I think I've seen Nivea cream around, but I may be wrong.

Oh, I've just noticed you're going to be in Wellington.
OK, ginger and garlic and oyster sauce can be found at the supermarket, as can some spices. For more unusual ones try A-mart (an Asian supermarket opposite Chaffers St New World), there are also Asian food shops on Cambridge Terrace and Tory St, and I think there are quite a few in Newtown.
Another good place for spices is Common Sense Organics on Wakefield St - they tend to be cheaper than what you get in supermarkets, and the staff are pretty knowledgable.
For the Nivea cream try Farmers or Kirkaldie and Stains.

Definitely head for Moore Wilsons for the food items, great wholesalers food shop.
Not sure about Nicky Clarke but there's loads of shampoos readily available.
What do you mean Ozzie wine, what about NZ wine :D living down the road from the vineyards of Martinborough we've definitely converted to NZ over French and Ozzie wine anyday ;) Not sure how much you'll get away with though, we ended up drinking our supply before we came.
Plenty of shoe shops in Wellington, vary from really cheap and nasty to very expensive and lovely. Try Colarado on Lambton Quay, mid range to expensive but very nice shoes and clothes :) Depends on your style though so you may want to stock up before you leave. Any excuse to go shopping is great in my book :)

Yes I agreee we like NZ wines too, but if you have 200 cases left from the business I thought we would put some by before we sell it and have it for when we are tight of money over there, don't want to have to go without my wine!!
Nivea is for my eczema so I must have that will stock up just incase. Mind you it may go when we move its to do with the water I think.
thanks for you replies so far.

You could always browse through Woolworths (it's a supermarket here ;) ) - you don't need to log in or register or anything - use the "browse" function only and you can search for products. I just did a search for "Nivea" and it came back with 26 items... and then I searched for "spices" and again, a huge selection. You can have a virtual NZ shopping spree!! :nice1

Haven't seen Nikki Clarke but there are shops that just sell hair products, apart from hairdressers and pharmacies, on Lambton Quay and in the Grand Arcade on Willis Street. They do Tigi Bedhead which I thought would be impossible to get here.
As Sizzle says there's loads of spices in Moore Wilson including the squished stuff in a jar and spices in most supermarkets too, it's just that MW is cheaper for big bags.
I got Nivea, the shimmery one in New World too, it doesn't like my skin though.
Big range of herbal teas in most supermarkets, can't remember the make though.

You can get oxo in countdown.
There are loads of asian type warehouse shops that sell spices. I agree about heading straight to Moore Wilsons in Wellington, it's an excellent shop!!
I would recommend buying as many shoes and clothes as you can squeeze into the container, they are very expensive here!
