canning/bottling jars for jam making?

hi everyone,

I have one of those obscure obsessing-over-details questions.

I got into making jam etc. while I've been in America, but I didn't do it when I lived in NZ so I didn't pay attention to the availability of supplies. I did a bit of googling but couldn't find what I was looking for. So, my question is:

Is it easy to find pectin (liquid or powder) and canning jars?
By canning jars, I mean small (8-ounce) glass jars with 2 piece lids (flat rubber seal lid, and screw band).

thanks!
Avril

Not a problem, you can get most of the stuff in the supermarkets, my local rural supermarket stocks all that you need for making jam... I made my first batch this summer and didn't have to venture into the city to get any of the bits :nice1

The jars you describe are exactly the jars I bought locally.
