Hi
We have a 13 hour wait in transit in Hong Kong :wah
Does anyone know if there is a kind of tranist hotel there where we can get some much needed sleep, and what is it like?
Thanks in advance

I found this lily. We are flying cathay via hong kong, so a shower with the kids seems a good idea, although we have 3 hours there.
All the best , chips

Sorry I can't help on this one, however, I'll be very interested to hear how you get on. I saw some very reasonable flights with Cathay via Hong Kond advertised on Travelbag site.

Hi Diny
We are flying Cathay Pacific as well. I flew with them last time from Auckland to Amsterdam and found them to be a great airline, really helpful staff, good food and inflight entertainment. The only difference was last time I only had 4 hours before connecting flights not the dreaded 13!
Also their Asia Miles programme is great (free to join - the website is www.asiamiles.com). It doesn't take too many flights before you qualify for a variety of things.

Thanks for that info Lily. As the house has not yet sold :( we can't book our flights just yet. However, we are at the stage of looking at what flights are costing.
I am a member of the Singapore Airlines frequent flyer club (called Krisflyer) as I've travelled with them on many occasions, however, with all the other costs of relocating to NZ I'm hunting for the lowest possible fares I can find.
I know that at times you get stung when you realise that you get what you pay for, but I'm pretty sure Cathay would/will be just fine - after all they have a very good reputation.
In my younger days I use to fly to and from Oz with Garuda Airlines. They have (did have) a dreadful reputation but I always found them to be just fine!!

Thanks for the link, we are flying Cathay on Christmas Day for our holiday. Glad to see there are plenty of smoking rooms for my 3 hour fag break, I'll forgo the shopping, showers and lovely facilities to sit in a smoke filled room, elbow to elbow with another 50 fellow smokers. :laugh

Hi Diny
My Sister, who lives in Perth said Garuda tried to land on the highway once, imagine driving along and you see a 747 heading for you !!!

Well Gran
I did forget to mention the time I was on a Garuda flight and one of the toilets blocked up and then kind of back-fired.
There was all kinds of gunge seeping under the door and into the aisle ..... not nice at all.
But hey .. they are cheap !!!!!!!
