Did anybody else have problems with the UK police clearance (or subject access request, as they call it)???

Our 40 days passed yesterday, and we have not yet received it, and both OH and I have phoned the number on the website, only to be told that it "should have been" (!) posted on the 26th July, although they cannot/will not give us the assurance that it has actually been posted. :(

Did anyone have problems like this?

This police clearance is the only thing holding up our ITA. :no

What do I do to resolve this? I'm ready to start pulling my hair out in panic! Why won't they give us a definite answer? Someone please help! :wah

No don't worry. :nice1 They said our were posted out on a certain date and they didn't arrive for at least another 5-7 days. OH's 1st and then mine a couple of days after that. Buy which time I'd convinced myself I had been given a criminal conviction or 3 without my knowledge. :laugh

I think printing the letter, stuffing in an evelope and it sitting in the out box means something different to 'it's in the post' and waiting to be delivered tomorrow.

It's such a large department of a larger organisation, they can't talk with conviction.

Leave it at least another three days and then, only then, will we allow you to panic. :D

YES!
we got all ours - mine and my sons in 1 week, but Bobs never arrived...thought ooops! what had the naughty boy done!

turned out that his form had "fallen down the back of someones desk"!!!!!

so Ring them and say its not arrived! and you want one sent to you ASAP

Good luck

Thanks so much!

It's just so frustrating to have to wait for this ONE thing before we can hand in the pack!

But thanks for the advice!

I got mine yesterday which was a few days short of the 40 days they said it would take.

My police check took ages to arrive and yet my OH came within 2-3 weeks. When mine arrived thay wanted more information about where I had lived on paticular dates and whether I had any distinguishing marks or tatoos! I began to panic because it was the only thing we were waiting for but all was well in the end. Ring them and ask them to resend a.s.a.p, you'll feel better because you know that you are at least doing something to speed up matters. Oh by the way I don't have any distinguishing marks or tatoos!

If there is a hold up with your police certificates it may be worth getting in touch with your case officer (email seemed to work really well for us always answered same day!) and asking if you can submit your ITA without them and forward them as soon as they arrive, that way at least the rest is been processed and checked and any additional information or medical checks they require will be underway - just a thought to keep the ball rolling along!! ;)

Great idea - OH and I thought to just submit our ITA with a letter explaining everything we've done to get it and that we'll bring it in as soon as we receive it.

Went to the Police Station (Kingston) today where we handed the forms in, and told them the whole sorry story. The guy behind the counter felt terrible about it (my crying and hyperventilating might have had something to do with it!) and he's going to resend all our information with a letter asking them to hurry up with it and look for it.

The worst is that the PC who took our money and forms didn't enter it in any of their logbooks, so all we have is the receipt he gave us. :wah

We've spent hundreds of £££ on agencies to get all our SA documents in time (as we thought that would be the ones holding our application up) and now, to have to wait for the UK one is just killing us! :(

Which number do you ring to ask them to resend?

Hi High

I'm assuming here that you are in Kingston Surrey ?

If so you can call this number which is the Met police's subject access office.

020 7161 3500

HTH and that it all arrives soon.

Hi Smiler

Yes, I am in Kingston Surrey. Thanks for the number, but I phoned that number 4 times already during this past week, and every time I'm told "We don't know where it is, or even whether we've received it. Just wait and see if it gets delivered".

That's why I'm finding it so very very frustrating. :( I don't mind waiting if I know it's in the post, but to be told that they can't even confirm if they ever received it or processed it is totally killing me! :wah

We were waiting for our police checks to come back and the deadline was nearing. SO we sent all the stuff off with a note to say that the checks would follows, which they did within days.

As long as the forms are in by the deadline, other stuff can follow.

Hope that helps :)
