HI all,
I am very new to the idea of migrating to NZ. I would be obliged if experts could advise me whether I stand a chance for passing EOI.
in my calculations I get atleast 120 including 10 points for work experience in absolute skills shortage area
should I apply for EOI?
please suggest.

Hello dipto
Welcome to the forum :D
We posted a similar question about 2 months ago...we had 135 points.
Since then many people have been chosen with less than 120 points...so go for it :nice1
Good luck

First of all ... welcome to the forum!!!!
In regards to whether you should submit a EOI ...
Do you have a job offer??? If so, then I would submit.
If you don't have a job offer then I'd look at the NZ Immigration website to find out what the past marks have been this year, to see whether is worth submitting.
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/ look at the skilled migrant fortnightly selection.
If your points are higher / same as what has been selected recently then I'd risk it and submit (You'll remain in the pool until you are selected or your 6 months are up, but if during this time you get a job offer then you can edit the EOI with the additional points).
I'm sure there are plenty of people that have been in this situation on this forum, who will be able to give their opinion.
Good Luck

I think as long as you have the bonus points for Skills Shortage area, just make sure, then with 120 points you could get selected. We did at 120 however during the initial checks found my qualification did not qualify for the points in skills shortage area, lost 10 points and put back into the pool. At this stage with out the bonus points for skill shortage not likely to get picked from the pool.
I would go for it if you have the additional bonus points for Skills shortage area. Good luck. :cheers
Angie.

Yes it seems that as long as you get the bounus points for your qualification or qualification/work experience then you should have no trouble being pulled from the pool. So if this is the case, go for it. :nice1

could you please help me determine my chances of getting bonus points:
[I am underlining the issues that I think may be important]
age: 34
job experience: total job experience is close to 9 years and 7 months.[all related to my recognized qualification]
I have more than 2 years recent job experience as a software developer.
education: I have an recognized Australian Masters degree in Computer Science so I guess all togather it is counted as a basic qualification]
please help me in deciding whether I can get bonus points for qualification/experience in absolute skills shortage area and/or future growth sectors.
I dont have a job offer and there is no chance of having one
[B]*** does the NZIS perform a EOI routine every two weeks? By which date should I submit my EOI if wan't to be processed in the next lot of EOIs
****Does NZIS start doing employer verification during EOI phase or later??- I don't wan't make my employer annoyed, as there is no surity of getting through with NZIS

I'm no expert, so please don't take anything I've said as set in stone, but if I were in your shoes Dipto, I'd be claiming 125 points:
Work experience:
relevant to qual (8yrs) - 25 (if completed after your Masters)
in area of skill shortage (2 yrs) - 10 (maybe more if your other work was at a high enough level and done after your Masters)
Qualification
Masters degree - 55
in area of skill shortage - 10
Age
30-39 - 25
The future growth area bonus points only apply if you have a job offer in one of those areas.
You might be able to squeeze a few more points by waiting six months before you apply, which would take your work experience to 10 years (+5) and looking at whether you can claim 6 years' work experience in a skill shortage area (+5). Or if you have a partner, does he/she have a recognised qualification (+10)?
I'm sure someone else will be able to answer your questions about timing, but maybe NZIS wouldn't need to actually contact your employer, if you could prove your work experience from job descriptions, contract, payslips, etc?

Hi Dipto
Not sure if I can answer your question, however how I understand it you need to check the long term shortage list. Is your occupation area there, you then need to look at the qualification required, if it is not listed then no bonus points. I do not know how you would stand if you had your qualification assessed by the NZQA.
Good luck.

There is no reason for them to contact you employer at this stage. From the information you have given I would say you will be fine and should get pulled from the pool. If it goes in now there is a good chance you will be pulled from the next draw. Good luck. :nice1

b. after getting the ITA-how long do I have to submit my application
c. do I have to send my medicals along with the application?
