Hi All,
This is my first post and may I say that I have found it very encourageing all the information and advice you all provide and hopefully one day I will be able to advise.
I have just started the early stages of coming over and my EOI has been excepted on an investment visa. What I would like to know has anyone else been in the position I am in.
I live with my partner and two adult children.24 and 22. My two chilren have just finished university and want to come with us to N.Z. Because neither of them have been in employment they do not have work experience. I own and let properties in the uk and my intension is to sell up and restart in nz.I have put some of these properties in my childrens names and because of this they are not dependent on me . My Son works for me on the finance side.My Daughter has a degree in animal science and a practitioners diploma in natural nutrition. We all want to come over together but because of their assets they have to be judged seperately.
Has anyone had any experience of getting older children over to Nz with them.
I apologise for my first thread being so complicated and I look forward to being able to help others out as my experience grows
Bye for now

Hi Caroline
Welcome to the forum. :cheers
There is someone on here who has done this with their son, who is a similar age. I think it's Andy A. Maybe PM them as I can't remember all the in's and out's?
Good luck to all of you.

hello caroline,
basically what the nzis guidelines specify is that you as principal applicant can include in your application for residence your DEPENDENT children, if they are single and aged 16 years or younger, or if they are aged 17-24 should still be single and have no children of their own. They must be totally or substantially reliant on you for financial support whether or not they live with you or your partner.
in your case, since your children are not substantially dependent on you for support, they might be asked to apply separately from you. their evidence of funds would be the income from their properties and bank statements attesting to these incomes. problem is, they might not have enough points for work experience as they have just finished university, although you said your son already works for you on the finance side. they could apply under family category, but i don't know if that will allow them to migrate at the same time as you, or they might have to wait till you are a permanent resident and you can sponsor them under family category.
hope i didn't confuse you further! this is the link to the business category guidelines.

Sorry can't offer you any words of wisdom on this subject - (knows loads of 'useless' information about other stuff though!!)
Just wanted to say a big welcome and don't let the 'brick walls' you may find in your way stop you - theres almost always a way over, around or under them just means you have to try that bit harder! ;)
Good luck!

im a dependand 24 year old child.under my mom.shes the primary applicant and my 2 other siblings and father are all part of it too....for me i live with my parents and still relay on them for support.but when i move ofcourse i want to start my own life.
but anyway i was asked to show that i work part time.with a letter from my boss stating i do...also a letter showing i live with my parents with.it has to have the same address with theirs and also my cellphone bill is under my moms name so thats sweet evidence right there.....once your turn 25 that its from what i know.i'll turn 25 next year.and we are finshing up our medicals right now...so i have plenty of time
so some advice to your daughter subscribe to asomething like stamp collecting that would quickly show up in the mail with her mom address on it..to show of course she still lives with you...get a quick p/t job and ask them to write her a letter saying that so and so works there p/t and your free to call me for any inquries...when they ask her why she needs it,let her tell them its for medical insurance reasons, its just to prove that shes still dependant on mom...
do this all before she turns 25.good luck i hope this helps*

Hi All
Many thanks for all the kind wellcomes.
Since I first wrote things are moving incredibly fast. Becuse we are coming over on an investment visa we decided to use an agent. I know you can do these things on your own but we are in a position to afford it and on the advice of our accountant we used an agent. It now seems certain that we will be in Auckland in Feb 07which will enable us to start selling property in the uk after April 6th. My daughter has been offered a diploma course at an auckland college and my son will stay at home while we sell our properties. Are the Auckland government desperate for our money?
I would like to hear from anyone else who has come over on an investment visa.
I am a great believer in positive thoughts and so far it is working but I am being cautious with it.
Once again thanks for all the positive comments
