We need some advice...
We are completing our ITA and would like some advice on what they will need for work references. We would prefer not to tip our current employers off as to what we are trying to do at this point but cannot see a way around it due to the reference issue. :uhoh

Has anyone else encountered this problem?? Any advice, ways around it??

Also any help as to what they will look for in a reference.
Many Thanks

You will need a letter of confirmation from your previous employers, stating the dates that you worked for them, your job title and the approximate hours worked per week.

This is to prove the work experience claimed in your EOI.

If the only work experience you are claiming is with your present employer, would a copy of your contract or job description have the info that NZIS require ?? If not, contact NZIS and ask for advice - they are really helpful. Try this number - its cheap - 01344-716199.

If your work part time (less than 30 hours per week) the NZIS then take 2 years work to equal 1 years work experience, so stating the hours worked at each company is vital.

Pity they don't take 60 hours a week to equal 2 years experience, but there you go !!.....LOL

We also used old P60's to prove dates, but unless you have payslips with hours, you still need a letter stating the work was full time - again because kev is self employed it was difficult for us but they just asked for a letter from the accountant.

Sorry if it not much help :o

Hi,

We got letters from previous employers to state the date of employment, hours worked and job title. I think we used the contract of employment and wage slips to confirm the job John was in at the time. If your not sure ask your officer if this will be enough.

Good luck with your ITA

:laugh :laugh :laugh

If you put it that way , well - yes !!

Just remember that your ITA is basically your EOI, but in paper form, so consequently everything that you claimed for in your EOI has now to PROVED in your ITA by the use of supporting documents etc.

HTH........

we are in the process of getting together everything for the NZ 'application for assessment of international qualifications' I'm hoping we have included all necessary paperwork. Will they want to see completed course work [as well as certificates/curriculum] Not sure how much/what exactly to put in for proof of qualification/work experience [I'm a plumber with 3 year's work experience, no apprenticeship] If anyone could help that would be great, anxious to get it right. thanks again
