Hi All

Can anyone tell me what the Auckland area is like for alternative health. We are great believers in it and our health is greatly improved by it.
This will not affect our decision to emigrate as NZ has to be healthier than London
We have found write ups etc about alternative health in NZ but you cant beat personal experience

All the best

I have to say that my experience of it here is somewhat negative. I have found most practitioners to be, shall we say "less than hygenic", both persoanlly and in thier premises. So I have to say my advise is to tread carefully. A lot of this depends on what kind of treatment you are after - in many cases it may not matter. But for instance - I have yet to find an aromatherapist that I would let near me. I have found many people do not change the towels between clients (which wouldnt matter if they used couch roll, but that seems in short supply). I have also found that - in keeping with general Kiwi life - few practitioners stick the heating on!

There certainly are good ones - but I would say you may find you have to go through a few bad ones to find them. But in some ways, that can can be said for home as well.

Hopefully someone from Auckland can give you more effective advise for the area.

Hugs

Well my experience with alternative medicine has not been either good or bad. I live in the north shore area in Auckland and i have a pretty nasty injury that now is taking over on my daily rutine, i can not longer work or do almost anything, but ok to answer your question.... I have seen in Birkenhead an acupunturist and it was great the only reason i stop going is cos my injury is as i said before pretty nasty so it did help but not as much as i would like, i need surgery to get better. After that i did try a chiropractor, but i founded him not goos everything seemed to be very nice i mean he has everything computarized and pretty cool but at the sessions he did not put me in a hot water bed with rollers as they did in USA to my dad i use to go with him and the chiropractor use to put him in that bed with rollers to make his back relax before he did the cracking on my dad's back... when the chiropractor here did the session as i said he did not even had the bed and it did geve me more pain so i needed to stop. Well that is all i have experience til now. A good massage i got when i went to the waiwera hot pools about 30 min from home and it was sensasional i totally recomend it!
Have a good one and God Bless,
Adriana
