Well not at work today so had a lie in
***Knock Knock*** (postman at the door)
Wife comes back upstairs with a huge grin and an envelope from NZIS London.
We ripped open the envelope and there they were---
PASSPORTS WITH BLUE STICKERS WWHOOOO!!!!!! :raebanana

11AM: Car booked in for MOT so I can sell it next week
1 Hour later "sorry mate its failed- the auto gearbox is on its way out too"
NO WAY!!
So now the car jumps out of gear until its warmed up (i was hoping an oil change at MOT time would cure it) and the ABS(antilock braking system) warning light doesnt come on, even on a self-test.

Just to rub it in, I took the instrument cluster out later to investigate the light (which is actually an LED so can't be blown like a bulb) and found that the previuos owner had deliberately smashed it to stop it flashing and showing up the abs as being faulty. Why didn't the previuos mot -the day before i bought the car a year ago- show this up? Probably because they got a backhander from the dealer i think.

So now i have a car worth about £2000 less than i thought it was when i woke up. Oh, and my wifes mini blew up last week so we lost £1000 on that too.

Anyway, gonna have a beer and stroke my nice newly-stickerd passport :cheers

Found out an even scarier trick too on a forum for my car- apparently some people have took out the abs bulb (to stop it flashing) and fitted a new bulb wired from the airbag bulb, so that it appears to do a self-test, then go out as if it was ok!

Thanks for all the cheer-ups guys - they do help alot actually :nice1

Sorry to hear about the car, some dodgy people out there, what is worse is when it could put people at risk.
