I'm new to organic stuff over here and have only seen Commonsense Organics in Welly CBD and the very small one in Lower Hutt.

I've found a supplier who delivers to your door and I've had my first lot today. This is what I got

I'm well chuffed. As you can see there's curly greens, cabbage greens, broccoli, parsnips, carrots, grapefruit, pears, onions, leeks, massive kumaras, apples, oranges, avo', satumas and some weird things tamarillo's . There's way too much fruit for us, so next time she's going to make it more veggie.

You can change the box to suit your diet and substitute 3 things. I've been banned from potatoes :wah mushrooms, red fruit and veggie's, so asked for these to be omitted.

Mine's a Baby box which is $38.00 (enough for 2 people for a week), there's a Standard box for $48.00 (for a family of four) and a Family pack is $70.00 (and is standard box of fruit and a baby box of veggie's or vice versa) It all comes in a recycled cardboard box with a plastic liner to protect the veg and the price includes delivery and GST.

They cover Palmerston North down to Kapiti, Hutt Valley and Wellington and have people order from Tauranga, Wanganui and Hawkes Bay too.

Orders need to be received by phone or email by 6pm on Tuesdays and delivery day is Thursday. I paid by direct bank transfer, you can also pay by cheque.

Email lorraineupham@xtra.co.nz I've checked and she's happy for me to pop her details here.

I've been munching fruit all afternoon now. :D

Ooh thanks Smiler - we used to use an organic home delivery co in the UK & I didn't think they did it over here... You've made my day!

Cheers

What a great idea.

Looking at the picture of all the fruit and veg I'm sure it would do us easily, 2 adults and our 3 kids :) Well that's if I keep Mr J down to 2 oranges a day :uhoh

Smiler,

Just out of curiosity, can you tell us why have you been banned from mushrooms, potatos, red fruit AND veggies??
Is it a new kind of diet where veggie and fruit are a no-no, and butter, bread and ice cream are a must? If that's the case, I AM IN!

I've been ordering my organic stuff from Naturally Organic since I got here, they are great and have a really good range of products, not just fruit and veggies, but also some award winning organic cheese, wines and a good selection of vegetarian products. :nice1

OH God I wish!

No wheat :wah or cow's stuff :wah. Dairy allergy has returned after managing to tolerate cows for a nearly a year after a 6 year stint of goaty product's ( I can't get low fat goat milk here though) and I seem to have grown a wheat and yeast intolerance and my  thyroid's gone on a wobble. So I'm having a super cleanse (ie eating nothing but fruit, veg, more vitamins and minerals) before more tests, in TWO WEEKS time.

Had some spelt bread today ewuk! and will be dreaming of crusty french bread and butter tonight.

And....can anyone tell me what to do with a tamarillo? I found some in the US and served them to my friends for an experiment. The grocer said you just cut off the top and scoop out the inside. I have to say - they were not a crowd favorite. I'm guessing either they're WAY better closer to the source or there is some serving secret we don't know about. Any ideas? Thanks!!!

Heard of Tamarillo Chutney and if you're a chutney/sauce fan might be a good way to use them. Grew up in NZ and remember it was you either loved them or hated them (bit like vegemite!) but remember having to use a lot of sugar with them to get them down!

Tamarillos are my favourite fruit by far. I just cut them in half, scoop out the red part (ignoring nost of the orange) and eat them with sugar. I made a tamarillo mousse this year which was ok. They are quite a strong flavoured tart fruit.

and once you have eaten a few hundred of them - you start having them without sugar because you like the "tartness"

It's true!! Honest!
