Would love to hear from anyone with a comment or similar story to mine..
Submitted my EOI online ..(wished now that I'd filled in a paper version because it seems more flexible and I could have added information) Got selected with a job offer ..
My NZ employer got an email asking for answers to various questions - reply within 7 days. My employer replied. At 9.10am on the 7th day I got an email saying that as they had not received a reply from my employer they had been unable to verify my job offer and my EOI was declined - they give you 2 weeks to respond with anything relevant.
To cut a long story short, it turns out that it had arrived - ontime. EOI again under consideration.
A few days later I got another email from the Case Officer saying that they wanted copies of the Job Specifications from my previous employment. I faxed them over and added if they wanted any other info/references etc please let me know.
Another few days .. I got a phone call saying that 2 out of 3 of the employers were no longer trading (which I knew but had been unable to tell him due to the inflexible on-line form) and they could find no proof they ever existed (strange because I did an on-line search and found them regsitered at Companies House, Registered addresses etc etc). They were unhappy with the Job Descriptions I sent over as they weren't on headed paper. Basically - I am 'Not invited to apply' and I have two weeks to supply more evidence.
I am currently collecting every shred of evidence I can find - P60's, Wage Slips, References, Personal References to email over to my Case Officer in the hope that it's enough!
I have edited this post ENORMOUSLY because my application is on-going ;)
Anyone else had to deal with previous employers out of business - how did you get around it? HELP .. my nerves are in pieces, can't eat, due to sell (exchange) on our house on Monday and I don't even know if we are going to be able to go!
Would also like to hear from anyone who 'failed' to get through the Skilled Migrant route and went on a Working Visa .. am I right in thinking it's a lot easier? Basically all I have going for me is a Job Offer and 8/9 years experience - no relevant qualifications. If I get a Working Visa and start my job would it make a 'Skilled Migrant' application any easier?
veryveryverynervouslyyours,
Dawn
