We have had several firms around to quote for the shipping of our goods and one thing they all differ on is the length of time it takes to ship from the uk to NZ. It ranges from 6 weeks to 3 months.
For those of you who have shipped over, how long did it take?

Yep me too - all our quotes have been between 6 - 10 weeks

Was the 6 month quote for groupage??

Our container was packed on 14 June and shipped to the UK before sending onwards to NZ. The ship set sail and it was due in Auckland on 31 July. I'm not sure if it's actually arrived yet and haven't checked because we're not there just yet. Note: our container was sole use so that prevents delays in leaving.

Ours left our old house on the 29th May, we had it delivered to our new house on the 15th July, so not bad at all really.... it depends also if you are having a whole container to yourself or not. If you are having a whole one, its quicker cos they dont have to wait for other cargo to fill the rest of the container.

The packers (Allied Pickfords) came in to our house on 22nd and 23rd May, took the container away on 23rd, the ship left Southampton on 26th May, we flew on 27th May, the ship landed in Auckland on 2nd July, we received our container on 4th July. So the time the ship took to sail from Southampton to Auckland was 5 weeks and 2 days but we were without our stuff for 6 weeks to the day!

We had sole use of the container, which was sealed at our house in England and then the seal was broken at our house here, and we were very impressed with the timing, especially after reading other people's experiences.

As above it depends on what option you go for, sole use or groupage. Sole use can also vary depending on shipping line and route used. Most containers get transhipped along the way in somewhere like Singapore but there are also direct routes. 6-8 weeks door to door would be fair for sole use and it could be anything for groupage depending on what company you use. I would suspect most would estimate 10-12 weeks but if they dont have much freight going your way it could longer.
