First step accomplished..I got a job offer..So what do i do next ??..The employer has sent across bunch of forms and documents.
Is it better /faster to apply for Work visa/permit and then when one has worked/ lived in NZ for 2 years apply for Residence OR...Go for the Work2residence (if we can do that) visa directly..
Really appreciate all help. The employer wants me to be in NZ by December...Thanx folks..
:P have an nice day

Hiya,
Congratulations on the job offer... I'm jealous!
I doubt you will get permanent residency in time for starting a job in December, even with the faster processing times for those with job offers, so I think you'll have to go down the work visa/permit route. However, it's probably worth starting the permanent residency application process while the pass mark is so low, just in case something happens and they decide to change the criteria. You can always transfer the case to NZ when you go over and get them to handle it there.
Other people who are further through the process may be able to offer more advice than me, but I'm sure they'll be adding their posts soon. :nice1
By the way, where in NZ are you going to be?
Good luck

Hi
Go for the work visa now and as Sophie said apply for PR at the same time.
I'm sure having a work visa speeds up the PR process. Immigration had our PR application for 2 days before they approved it and I can only pressume thats because we already had work visas so a lot of the checking had been done.

Hi
I go along with the last two posts, but just to add on to it. I posted a thread in relation to a form which you require to fill in if you are going for a visa/permit that you must have from future employer. I may be speaking a little wildly as i don't know what your offer is for, but with the job offer i have i needed this form filled in. Look under the thread NZIS 1113 you may need this, and i hope you have it, as it was a total panic when i realised i needed it but didn't have it. I was 12 hours away from going to immigration to apply for the visa. It was sorted in the end though.
Good luck whichever avenue you go down.

Thanx a ton..guys..
sophie : I'll be in Auckland..a beautiful place from whatever little i have heard about and read in posts.
I'll be calling the NZ embassy in india and try to get more info on these procedures.
Kim: Thanx for reminding me to fillup NZIS 1113...appreciate that.
Michelle : I guess this seems to be more sensible option. Apply for work visa and then for PR..
So i'll apply for work visa ASAP and then when i am in NZ i'll apply for residency..
i'm planning to go alone first and then call my wife over after 3-4 months..should leave me enough time on hand to hunt for a rental house and get stuff sorted out.
What visa would my wife be on..? Will she be required to clear English language proficiency test, if she comes on as a dependent?..
G'day folks..

Halu,
If you already have a work permit, wife may apply for work/visitor's visa/permit too on the merit that you already have one. Dependent children hay apply for student visa.
