Has anyone done this ?

We were selected on 18th Aug, and hope to move out early next year. But at the same time we're trying for kids.

I'm wondering will we be able to slot straight into the NZ medical system ? I assume they have a decent pre natel service.

Also interested in the practicalitys of the move, while expecting, has anyone got any feedback on this.

Hi there
Having looked into this, you can basically get free maternity care in NZ if you are on either PR or a work permit of a minimum two years. The link below is for eligibilty for publicly funded healthcare, including maternity care.

Feedback indicates that the standard of care is high. I have been in touch with the NZ College of Midwives by email and they are helpful with info for immigrants. Try their homepage, they give a good guide to how it all works in NZ.
