After being a complete and obsessed forum stalker forever, I finally am able to post! I had to pay for an extra email address from a local ISP as my MSN account was not accepted for one reason or another...The lengths a person will go to! :laugh

A little background on us: I am an Australian who grew up in New Zealand. Ten years ago I met my American husband (Brian) on an airplane, got married and had three little girls (Lily-9, Maddy-7 and Ruby-6). We have been living in Oregon for the last ten years. Very close to where Oregonkiwi lives actually - she and I have had get togethers at the park to lament the stresses of trying to get back to NZ!

We have been trying to sell our house here since May, with plans to move back to NZ as soon as it sells. I can't wait! We have recently dropped our house price by $50k which seems to have raised the interest levels-fingers crossed!

Anyway, so happy to be able to communicate with you all-you have been such a source of comfort to me during my days of feeling I would never make it to NZ. I wish you all the best of luck on this crazy journey!

Amy.

Welcome to the forum Amy.
As you say you've been a stalker here for some time, you will already know there is a wealth of info' on here if you're prepared to ask, or look.

Good luck for the future

John

PS. By the way. How long was that flight ?? :laugh :laugh

Welcome Amy! Back to which part of NZ out of interest?

Thanks for the welcome, Gil!
I grew up in the Auckland area. My mum lives in Titirangi, so we will likely base ourselves in that area initially with plans to look further north. Now we have kids the idea of lots of space seems appealling...One of my definite requirements for the house we buy is that it HAS to have a lemon tree - an orchard of mandarin oranges would be even better!!

Sounds blissful! I had a lemon tree when I lived in Italy...so that would be a definite plus in NZ! We're Auckland bound too, Perhaps we'll get to meet eventually? We're in the same boat as you re the house but been up for sale since September last year!! We've reduced by £25K, but not had the door knocked down by hopefuls.....yet!

Good luck, and let us know how it goes,
Gil

Amy ... welcome to the forum, it must be nice to be able to post after lurking for so long.

Hope all goes well with the house sale, dropping the price in a pain in the neck but if it means things move along for you then maybe the blow will be softened.

Around these parts it seems that more houses do have a lemon tree than don't - they're everywhere. Hhhmmmm .... saying that though, our new house doesn't !!

Look forward to reading your posts.

Yes, it took me weeks to get registered here. Eventually I had to use my mother's email address as nothing I did was "acceptable"!!!

Welcome to the forum Amy and family :)

Hi Amy

Welcome to the forum. Love your girls names - very pretty. I had lunch in Titirangi the other day - it doesn't seem to have changed much in the 9 years I was away. We're living out west in West Harbour, so if I can look into anything in West Auckland for you just let me know. Good luck with the house sale, hope it sells soon. Nothing worse than making a decision to move then having to wait for ages for things to happen.
(We have two large lemon trees in our garden that produce the most amazing amount of lemons. It's so nice to just go and pick a lemon to slice for my G 'n T. )

Welcome Amy!! Glad to see you persevered enough to make it!

Diny, you'll just have to cross the road to your old house to pick some lemons off that tree. :nice1

Hi Amy, welcome to the forum! I moved to Titirangi a month ago, and love it here (no lemon tree in my garden though...at least I think not :laugh ). Hope your house sells soon!

Thank you all for your wonderful welcome! Feels great to be able to participate at last.

Wonderful news today-got a phone call from a couple who looked at our house last week-offer on its way. Fingers, toes and everything else crossed! Looks like we just may be in luck for a NZ Christmas on the beach after all. What an awesome day it has been!!!!

Watch this space-a few weeks from now my posts may be from a frantic, frazzled me as I pack all our posessions into boxes...here's hoping!

Hi Amy,
I was so touched by your other post on the US/NZ thread, I know too well about the revolving front door, and I hope to reconnect with my husband, friends, self and life once we get moved!
I am an ex-Portland (well, Beaverton) girl myself, so here's a shout out to the cool Oregan girls - you and Oregonkiwi - and hopefully we can all get together in NZ one day soon, that'd be awesome.
All the best with your packing and house sale. We're right behind you.

Hi SoCal Girl,

Wouldn't it be cool to have a get together in NZ!? One day soon I hope! Got an offer $11k over my asking price on our house today...a little freaked out though as contingent on the buyer viewing it-in ten days! Some crazy Californian making the offer! :laugh Problem is I have an offer for $20k less, from people who have seen it and love it, already...so, which do I sign???! :uhoh Aaargh!

Here's to a future with love, laughter and a slower pace of life...
Amy.

Hi Amy,
Now you are really on the rollercoaster of everything happening at once!
And of course, some crazy calis have to be in the mix! LOL!
Good luck with everything, and really looking forward to a meet-up someday...and NOT reminiscing over Big house, Big SUV and Big box store! (Well, maybe Target....maybe) ;-)
