Hi!

Has anyone had experience/knowledge of any law enforcement related recruiters? My husband is a policeman here in the US. Our understanding of the NZ police is that it is all Federal, and you must be a citizen. Are there any recuiters/websites/etc. that might give information about possible related fields, such as investigations, and their opportunities? Or, is it sufficient to be a resident?

Thanks!
Beth

Evening Beth,

You do need permanent residency to apply for the NZ Police, look on the following for more info:

http://www.police.govt.nz/recruiting/eligibility.html

I know that they have just recruited 96 (ish) Met officers, so they are happy to accept officers from external forces, though you will need to get the residency thing sorted.

Good Luck.

The NZ police were advertising for police officers from England not so long ago and helping them to come here. Cant see why it wouldnt work for police from other countries. could be just what you need to help you complete the emigration process . Why not contact them on there website and make a few provisioal enquiries. Cheers Cardy :)

I believe they were actively recruiting in the Cheshire police force (should be o.k. for speed traps then!!) I also believe that even though you are a trained policeman you still have to attend all the training courses etc.

We know of one of the Cheshire police officers who was successfully recruited - will check with our contact for their e-mail details as they are now in NZ.
