Dear All,

First patient is late so squeezing in this one into my appointment book.

We found a rental for $300 per week with 3 bedrooms that practically sparkles. Would you believe the house is 20 metres from the bloomin' practice! Must be fate. The owner is the old boy who looked shifty at the fact there was one tiny scratch in the paint in this gleaming house. My new neighbour told me he spent the entire week cleaning the house! He invited us to dinner (you could tell it was his house as the whole thing gleamed from down the street.. a real perfectionist) with his wife and was a charming host and dinner was lovely. Boy, do they love their roasts!

Anyway, already looking for houses.

Just thought I'd say hello.. furniture (and computers arrive on the 6th of next month so will post replies to others then). It seems the really busy stuff is starting to ebb a little, although I have an interview with the local press today to welcome (advertise) my presence in the town (all organised by the chap who owns the practice).

PS I really hope that in 3 months time this post isn't followed by "I hate NZ.. those damn Kiwis!"

I wish you all well, and hope to be on line in 3-4 weeks.

KJ

Good to hear from you. I had to smile when you mentioned the roast - they most certainly do love them over here .... which is OK by me.

They just need to understand that 2 floz of gravy isn't enough for the entire family !!!

Wish we were going to be in the Napier area so you could be our GP...asssuming you are a GP and not, say, a urologist! eek! :o

Just received an email.. thwarting notes from the UK.

My Admiral car policy had a month to go so I cancelled it early paying a 45 pound cancellation fee, so I didn't have to pay the final 69 pounds. They have just sent a letter to my friend saying they will take legal action if I don't pay. THEN WHAT DID I PAY A CANCELLATION FEE FOR??????

Also, O2 STILL HAVEN'T UNLOCKED MY PHONES! I had 3 attempts last night to get through to 02 customers services and am frankly too hacked off with the "O2 customer experience.. we are commited to giving you the best customer experience".. no you're not.. you're commited to taking my adjective-for-two-animals-mating-fiestily money! One of the people didn't know the answer to my question so left me holding for 10 minutes, checked I was still there and left me holding.. I bet because she didn't know the answer!! AAAARRRGGGHHHH!

Oh, and Dorree Bonner's partner in NZ, "Grace" (yeah right) just sent me a letter saying they need a flat non-negotiable $350 to cover MAF fees!

All I can say is I hope the first patient is an easy one!!!!!

You've probably read about this before on the forum but, as far as paying $350 to Grace for MAF bills ...... don't do it.

Tell them that you will pay MAF directly when they come out to inspect your shipment.

This is a bit of a swindle that must make the romoval companies a tidy little sum on each shipment. The MAF fees will depend on how much they need to have a look at. When they inspected our shipment they just wanted to look at a step ladder and the Xmas decorations, they were there a few mins and charged us somewhere in the region of $85.

Use your colourful command of the English language to suggest they 'go forth'.

Giggles galore!!

Funnily enough it was THIS forum that first made me aware of the MAF charge swindle which is why those months ago I questioned every shipping company about it and was assured by Dorree Bonner that it wouldn't happen to me.

Before I checked the site to review your replies to my morning's post, I actually had called the MAF in Napier after getting the number off the web and spoke to a lovely chap called Greg who told me that this was indeed not the case and we could be billed by them directly.

I have emailed Dorree Bonner about this in between patients this am and hope to get a reply tomorrow but will speak to them directly tonight.

I will also call Grace this lunch and give them what for.. how dare they try and be forth right with my wife!

If DB sort them out, I will justly praise and if not....... here will starteth my mission!
