Long time reader, first time poster...

My Sth African girlfriend has lodged her application for partnership PR visa and due to lack of planning on our behalf, we realise we need her passport back for a short trip in Turkey end of Sep. We are worried that the partnership visa won't be approved in time to allow this.

Does anyone know if we can obtain the passport back whilst the application is still in progress?
We realise now that we should have applied using a certified copy of her passport, I wonder if they will give us the passport back so we can swap it with a cert copy?

Otherwise, what options do we have?

We havn't been assigned a Case Officer yet :(

Hi and wellcome to the forum.
we contacted our CO about this as we are in the same situation and he told us if we let them know that we need them they will return them straight away. they will need to have them back as only the originals can have the blue stickers on.
You had best contact them A.S.A.P . it shouldn't be long before you get a case officer

Yep we did that too. submitted ITA feb but had a holiday booked for april so they said we could have them back. Its no problem but give em planty of notice to post them, or make an appointment to collect em.

Well we have tried to email our contact at NZIS (not CO) he had an out of office saying contact this other person - This other person also had an out of office saying they were away for 10 days! and we have run out of people to email.

I'm encouraged by the replies posted, so with any luck we can obtain the passport and go on our holiday with the OH's family before emmigrating
