Sorry for asking this question again but...

Who do we have to ship our worldly goods???
I’m not too bothered about the cheapest quote, but I would rather pay a little more and get “quality service”. We have some valuable stuff (well it is to us), as well as machinery from a ‘home workshop’, and I think we need a 40’ container…
To be honest, this is the most worrying part for me, I’m dreading it, but I would be more at ease if I could find a really GOOD packer/shipper to make things a little easier.

Thanks.

Lot's of threads on here about shipping. I would give the usuals a call, John Mason, Britannia etc. Get a few quotes, but if you not bothered about cost, well it is up to you.
Mason's are doing all of our packing, boxes supplied, breathable membranes etc..

hi ,

we are using john masons - impressed so far - we are well informed & even know the name of our ship . The packers arrive tuesday & my container sets sail on 18 th August & is due to dock in Christchurch on the 29 th sept . Insurance included £3475 - the best quote by far ........ mind you only time will tell .

After reading as many of the posts I could find I decided on Crown. They were not the cheapest but decided because,
A/ Good reports
B/ You only deal with Crown ie they do not use another company this end, so if anything goes wrong each blame the other.
C/ All MAF charges included in quote.
D/ They seemed very proffesional.

Everything went OK nothing was to much of a problem, they even phoned to say they would be 1/2 hour late.

I certainly would recommend

Hi

We used Robinsons-Manchester based covers most of Yorkshire area and I think as far as Notts, we were very pleased with them, also Brittania offered a good service.

Hope this helps.

Well we're waiting for our 5th shipping company to come out and quote,

We have only asked those with good reputations, but one will be straight out of the race purely based on the salemans selling technique (unless they come in way below everyone else!) Didn't instill confidence in us, talked over us, was more bothered about flashing his 'gadget' around and telling irrelevant 'funny' :no stories. He told us nothing about the process that they would use for packing up, so not impressed at all!!

So far we have had

Britannia
GB Liners
John Masons
Crown

and Robinsons are coming today.

Once we get the quotes in I will post them but don't be gasping in surprise they are all expensive, due to some of the stuff we are taking we need crates and lifting gear etc, probably looking around the 7K mark for a 40 footer

I used GB Liners and I have to honest they were brilliant they arrived as promised, everything was packed really well and when we got our stuff sooner than expected there were no breakages and nothing damaged.
The NZ side was handled by NZ van lines who I have heard some not so glowing reports but have to say we had no issues with either company and would use them again without hesitation.....

We also used GB Liners after quotes from Crown and PSS. They were fantastic and everything went very smoothly, they even re-packed all our stuff that had been in storage for 6 months and it all arrived in one piece, no probs at all.

NZ Vanlines gave us an equally good service at the NZ end, so much so that we've now used them twice since for our moves in NZ.

We used Bishops Move, who were terrible, but the Moving Company this end were fabulous. When we move into our own home in October, I'll be giving them a call!

We used PSS. They were fantastic :nice1 and NZ Vanlines were great this end (despite our worries after some less than glowing reports on here).

We used Crown, probally not the cheapest but no hassle both ends, 1 week delay in arriving in NZ, we then had our stuff the next day, except for the stuff MAFF wanted to see, they were returned the next day with no charge, they also came back when asked to uplift the empty boxes we had.
Highly recommended. :nice1 :nice1

HI

We are in derby and had Brittania from BOT quote and John Masons, we are going with mason as Barry was really professional and gave us confidence in the company...I have added numerous things to the inventory and had heaps of daft questions for masons, and my contact at the liverpool office (harvey) is a star, always takes the calls and nothing is too much trouble. We are having sole use of 40ft for £5350

Good luck :cheers
