Hi,
A million questions to ask on the "TO DO" list-
I keep reading about the need for credit references - esp for getting a mobile phone. Anyone any experience of needing a credit references ? If so - how do I go about getting one ? I've "googled" it and there are lots of companies offering to give you a ref. for a fee !

We didn't need any Tracy. :D

We opened bank accounts, business and personal, arranged utilities, a rental, hired cars, got mobiles (on our 1st day) registered our company in NZ etc, all after lugging round copies of banks statements, utility bills, company accounts etc etc. At worst we needed to show our passports or Uk driving license.

Experian ( and others) will give you a copy of your credit file for a couple of pounds. If it puts your mind at rest, bring it. You'll be using it to start the fire in your rental. :D

Ditto. we started a whole new life in Nz and didnt need a sausage..we now have all utilities, mobiles, bank cards, various accounts and credit cards too! easy as falling off alog. good luck.

We only needed one when we applied for our mortgage with the ANZ bank. Everything else was set up with absolutely no mention of a credit reference.
