Here's a question for you.
I am planning a surprise trip to Iceland for him indoors for his 30th birthday. While we're there I'm hoping we'll get to see the Northern Lights but, as is always the case with these natural phenomena, it's not guaranteed and we have to hope to get lucky in the few days we're there.
Which set me thinking. Are there places in the South Island that you can see the Southern Lights? I've heard you can occasionally see the Northern Lights from Aberdeen so presumably Stewart Island or Invercargill might get the odd show? I draw the line at having to travel to Antarctica!
Anyone actually seen the aurora in either hemisphere?
