Rodney district covers quite a large area. Any ideas whereabouts in Rodney? Good things: it's beautiful, close to the countryside (or is the countryside), easy access to Northland for holidays and long weekends, close to great walks and forests, excellent beaches, easy access to good fishing and diving, wineries close by. A thoroughly fantastic part the Auckland region. Bad things: none I can think off... Oh wait, there is that small issue which keeps on popping up: the commute to Auckland city - yughhhhh! But the lifestyle might outweigh the 40-60 minutes in the car, and a lot depends on where you work.

Thanks Tash. You have described it just how we would like. Thinking of possibly Warkworth at the moment.Any idea of the permanent population there?

Its is lovely up there but you have to live AND work up there, dont even consider a commute.

I dont commute in the UK Michelle, and have no intention of doing so In NZ if I can help it. Mind you, I am self employed here, so I suit myself. I guess that when we get out there, it will be back on the cards for me so will have to do whatever the boss says.

Good question. Our eldest son has decided to get hitched in April, so we wont make the move proper till after that. I may come out on my own for a bit of job hunting (shhhh!!) before that, it depends on a few variables.
Housing market here has really slowed up, so it may be a while yet unfortunately.
Why could you not live up that way Michelle? Is there just no work for you?

Not really, I hope to be working at the airport soon, have had too long with my feet on the ground ! Richard is working in the city so its a definite no for him.

Lets us know if you are making a research trip, will do all we can to help from this end
