hello, we're new to the forum and just trying to understand the process to emigrate. I'm a plumber and am currently filling in the NQA form [$450 fee] to get my qualification verified. Am I right in thinking once/if I've got that I can look for a job [either by going to NZ or on-line] then I can complete the EOI form? Is there another [better] way of doing this? I see lots of references to ITA - what does it stand for [I said I was new to this, trying hard to take it all in!!] I will continue to study the immigration website.
We live on beds/cambs border by the way and are hoping to go out for a proper recce early in the new year. Also, it looks like child care/pre-school carer is not on any list - are we right? wife is NNEB running a pre-school for some years. Any info on any of the above gratefully received, Andy and Liz.

Any.
I have replied about the plumbing on your other threads.

The various initials stand for....

EOI - expression of interest. You fill this in and submit it . Most folks make sure they have enough points before they do this. The amount of points can fluctuate. It was at 170 when we submitted but I see it has been at 140.

ITA - Invitation to apply. You get this if your EOI application is successful. What you are invited to apply for is PR

PR - Permanent residence.

WTR - means work to residence. That means you can come to NZ and be allowed to work towards being made a permanent resident.

use the menu to the left to move around the child care part of the site.

I believe there is a license that is issued to child care centres.

Andy,

Definately keep on at the website. Not teh most interesting read in the world, but I have to say - its probably a good idea to keep at it and take it all in. Its generally easier for us (at least for me :) ) to answer specifioc questions that arise from that.

You are difinately right to try a recce trip. :)

Dont worry if theres stuff on the NZIS website you dont understand - I still cant make head or tail of some of it. Over time - you will get the hang of it.

Good luck - and welcome BTW
