I've already had such nice welcomes to the forum that it occurs to me that I did not really introduce myself.

My wife and I (she's the prinicpal app.) live near Seattle. We have a 2 year old son. It's great to be part of this friendly and dilligent forum.

If I had to sum up the main info-finding aspect of my involvement in the forum, it would be that right now we're trying to ascertain whether the recent pass-mark trend and apparent loosening of the job-offer cirterion are as encouraging as they seem... hence the rather stern tone of my posts so far! I think they are having read a lot of context, from the statistic that only 56% of target got approved last year to the tone of the forthcoming SMC Amendments and the Opposition comments. I'm aware that this is to some extent a self-correcting, self-regulating application system, but even so we're pretty hopeful about the state of play.

Our EOI? Having racked our brains, we think :hopeso that the only possible weakness in our pretty straightforward EOI (our skill is in Future Growth Area, too) is that by the inevitable nature of her business some of my wife's claimed-for 8+ years' work experience is part-time. But that's inescapable - her field is almost totally that way the world over. Besides, there's nothing in the work-experience definition that puts a black mark by this as such.

Anyway, it'd be great to hear from anyone, esp. other USA residents.

By the way: I support Leeds Utd. and have done since I was a kid. So. :nice1

Cheers,
Matt.

Hi, Matt,

Welcome to the forum! Even though it looks like I'm just chiming in for the first time here, I've been a lurker for a long time. I feel like I know all the famous folks here (the Moorfs and the karltsmiths), but I've hardly made a peep (just one, back in the old forum days). So here I am, jumping in on your coming-out party... Anyway, good to see yet more Americans making the decision to get out before it's too late!

My fiance and I live right down I-5 from you, in Portland. Perhaps we'll hook up sometime and compare our NZIS hopes and fears!

Take care and good luck,
Dan
