Does anyone know if nonKiwis are allowed to work as firefighters in NZ? tia.

Sure can, but bear in mind its force is mainly volunteers with the odd few who are paid firefighters, and you probably only find these positions in major citys.

My OH is a fire fighter in the UK. When we were over there last year he made enquiries and was basically told that his experience in the UK counted for nothing. He could apply and if selected he would have to go through basic training like everyone else. They did say it was very hard to get in as so many people apply for each place. A lot of the country is covered by volunteers and this means there aren't many vacancies. Think he will join the volunteers though - keep his hand in!
