Hello all. New post and just joined. Please be gentle :roll
I'm a teacher and need to get quals recognised. The NZQA asks for everything under the sun from the day dot. I have my teaching qual cert gained 10 years ago and my degree cert 20 years ago (but have no transcripts or mark sheets for the degree  although is on recognised qual list) but schools certs and stuff - they were lost years ago - far more concerned with getting certs for students over the years.
Can anyone give me any clues, help or suggestions :uhoh ?
Thanks so much.

Welcome to the forum!!:D
Is there any way your university can get you a copy of your transcripts? I didn't go through NZQA - just the regular ITA process - but I got a duplicate copy of my transcripts from 14 years ago to send with that. My school just charged a minimal fee for the copies.

Hello and Welcome!
I was trained as a teacher in NZ, but have recently received my Masters degree from the U.S, so had to go through NZQA to get my updated qualifications recognized (I got lucky as they gave me full credit for an NZ Masters degree). It is essential to get transcripts from as many places as you can, in addition to statements of teaching service (this will particularly impact your payscale) from every place you have taught. It is better to inundate them with paper than not provide enough. They are known to be pretty tough and may downgrade your degree if there is anything lacking in your info...A cover letter raving about your experience, degrees etc is a good idea too.
Best of luck-oh, and it took months so if you want to move to NZ soon it is best to start collecting all the info now. :exit
Regards,
Amy.

We rang up our University and requested copies of degree certificates, they came through no problem, cost about a tenner each I think. OH had to contact RICS for Chartered status confirmation, again no problem even though he hasn't practised for 10 years.
Good luck!

Do they need swimming certificates as well....?
Only if you are applying for non swimming jobs. That seems to be the rule with any bureaucracy

hi Fingers
I managed to get transcripts for my BA degree easily (just a phone call)
but for my post grad, they did not hold any so i was provided with a 'statement' from the Uni saying when/what i studied etc. Most Unis are up on what is required and have knowledge of what to do.
I sent also my QTS/NQT (induction year) certificate' a work experience reference, college qualifications (a levels) but not school as the paperwork did not go back that far! - ( well it was a while ago now - we all still wrote on slate)
I can't recall what else altough it was only last year! but if you quote the form and ask me i will remember and get back to you. Mine went through without a problem . It took 3 months, i fast tracked but i do not think it is worth the extra money as i know others who have recevied them back as early without extra fastrack.

Thanks for catching that Gil. :D Some times you just shake your head when you deal with govts in general. I am a firm believer in a minimalistic approach to govt and civil service. Rules should not be such that you need a rule book to read and decipher the rules ;)
