Hi All,
I have noticed that a lot of people seem to come to NZ on a holiday visa and then apply for work. I am wondering - when you submit a CV is it important to let an employer/recruiter know that you do not have a work visa/permit right away (in the application)? Or is it better to tell if you get an interview call-up?

We're going on a holiday visa to apply for jobs. We will probably submit our cv's online about a month before we are due to arrive, and include in the cv that we will be in the country by a specific date, and that we will need to obtain a work visa before starting work. I'd guess it'd be better to be up front about this, some employers may feel their time has been wasted if they only find out you still need a work visa during the interview.
Edited to add: Welcome to the forum.

im going over to auckland on a working holiday visa,
this allows employers to employ you temporarily for a few month and decide wether they will help you with your permits.
i have 2 jobs already lined up this way, they seemed interested when i suggested the few month temp option.

I arrived on a holday visa - and didn't mention my lack of work visa when actually applying for a job. I did however, mention it when contacted to attend an interview, so I wouldn't be wasting my time or the interviewers.
Most were really cool with it, and I was offered several roles where they supported my application for a work visa.

As per Kerry, we arrived on holiday visas and when applying for jobs were upfront. Woz had several offers whilst on his holiday visa, they all seemed fine with it and his eventual employer sorted the work visa forms within the day to enable him to go get his work visa.
Many ads for jobs do seem to have the tagline "only those who are legally allowed to work in NZ should apply" (or words to that effect) but he applied anyway. Even agents put him up for jobs that stipulated the above.
Not sure how this applies across all industries (he's in I.T) or if we just got lucky. I know there's some rule that says the employer must have advertised the job in NZ for xx amount of time (the details are hazy nearly 2 yrs on!) although not sure if that still applies to jobs on the shortlist/smc.
