Hi all
I heard that Imm. rejects EOI aplli if work experience is not in a NZ recognised country. We have 125 pts with trade certif + work experience. And Mauritius Island does not appear on NZ list.
Hubby has around 15 yrs experience in IT sector as Computer technician.
Do the NZ authorities validate those work experiences if we can get testimonial from the company where he is employed. Anybody gone through this!!!!!
Dream is moving away , I fear :wah :wah

Glo -
Yep - they only recognise work experience from "comparable" labour markets. They have recently increased the number of countries in that list, but Mauritius still isnt on there. :no
How many points do you have without that?
Sorry thast not better news

The biggest change back in June was that if you work experience is in an area of absolute skills shortage then it no longer needs to be in a comparable labour market. Would that help your husband?
Here's the policy change on the NZIS website just in case

You don't say what sort of computer technician your husband is, but the majority of jobs within the IT industry are on the Long Term Skill shortage list, which means that his work experience would be recognised.
You can check the jobs on the list on the NZIS site.

sweet - I was previously being given the run around cause my experience (geotechnical engineering) was mostly Hong Kong based and ended up loosing about 20 points on my EOI when they spotted this.
guess this change bumps me back up again
