We were just wondering if anyone else has felt strange/uneasy about selling up.
We have estate agents coming around in the morning to value the house and discuss rates etc......but in the back of our mind we are worried about putting our house on the market without a firm job offer or being granted PR.
It seems so odd to sell up without having anywhere to go... :no
I know that selling the house could take a while...or it be quick..
What have other people's experiences been like?

Well we are in the same boat re jobs, but we do have PR. How far off getting PR are you?
I wish I had put my house on the market months ago! :wah I worry about not selling it in time for when we want to leave the UK

I would say if you're definitely not happy in your current house and situation and NZ is definitely the next move then sell now.
We sold even before we had the ITA in our hands because we knew we wanted to get to NZ or if that wasn't possible some where else rather than where we were. Hope that makes sense :) We ended up moving into rental 5 months before coming out here and haven't looked back since :D

Well the Estate Agents came today to value the house....it still feels strange.
We were pleased with the increase in value....thanks to al the hard work :p , but still unsure if we should go on the market today.
We have decided to wait till we come back from our trip to NZ, which is in 3 weeks time...we can't really do much when we are not here anyway.
Strange thing ....we had a call from New Zealand House when we were showing the Estate Agent around but they did not leave a message.....panicking a bit now :uhoh

I would put it on the market when you get back from your reccy trip, if your trip is successful and you decide NZ is definately for you, and one way or another you are going, don't wait do it straight away.
We didn't dare put ours up till we had the visas but now its the thing that is holding everything up, remember nothing is a done deal till you sign on the dotted line so even if you get a buyer quickly you still have time to pull out if your visas don't come through for whatever reason!
If we had the chance again we would do it that way, I know its scary thinking you may be homeless with no visas, but you will be in control of when you sign the contract!!
Good luck!

We haven't got our visas yet but we accepted an offer on the house about 4 weeks ago. We decided to put in on the market because we weren't sure how long it would take to sell, but we had 3 offers in the fortnight it was up for sale. I am worried about our visas not coming through in time, but as Marcia says if the worst comes to the worst we can always pull out of the sale.
However, we have already decided that whatever happens we don't want to stay in the house we are in now so it might be different for you. My parents have generously offered to put us up and this would be ok for a few weeks until we start pulling each others hair out. We also have a dog who can't live at my mums because they have 2 cats so the prospect of extended kenneling for him is not great.
So all in all i am pretty panicky at the mo! I must have boosted the sales of paracetamol in the south east because i seem to have a permanent headache.
Hope i haven't put you off selling your house, sometimes you just have to take the jump. Even though i am worried about what will happen and the timing of it all, at the same time i am very excited about the future too.
