Might be panicking but I have a "short" birth certificate - about 20cm x 12cm.
Is this Ok or do I have to locate the large version?

Hi there,
Yep, back on the site again after a bit of a break. Anyway, this is one query I can help with. From the UK you need a "long form" birth certificate. Everyone automatically gets a short birth cert when they're born but you have to pay extra for a long one.
Check
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/births/obtainingbirthcertificates/waystoapply.asp
for a guide on how to get one.
If you're based in or near London then a visit in person is highly recommended. In all this seemingly endless bureaucracy, they were the most professional, most modern, quickest and most helpful public service I've ever experienced! And my certificate only cost £7. Give 'em a ring.
Best of luck!

My application form stated that I MUST submit the long version of my certificate.
I am applying for PR under the partnership family category, sponsored by Kiwi spouse.
The rules may be completely different when applying for work or study visas etc.
Best check with NZIS to be on the safe side.

Hi Jess
Not wrong again ......... I always advise folks to double check any info I hand out, there's just so many bridges to cross on the way to NZ that a snippet of info could get lost or misunderstood along the way.
