What a fantastic forum, so glad to have found you all!
We, and our two young children, are hoping to get to NZ as soon as. Just received our Inv. to Apply and now gathering necessary documents. Only very minor delays so far but have major anxiety that something unforeseen will come up.
Last thread we read was about the comparative ‘average’ lifestyles between UK and NZ. Happy to say that we have not been put off in the slightest – our cars have always been a bit old and have had no foreign holidays since we started the family. Pictures and stories of Avondale spiders and Wetas however gave us brief cause for concern!
Last year we moved to Manchester. About a month later (October) we went to the expo. but having just started our new jobs/life we didn’t push ahead with the NZ idea straight away.
Now we can’t wait to go.

Welcome to the forum! Like many of us you may soon find yourself addictive to many hours of reading and gathering of info about the rollercoaster ride that is migration to NZ. If you can't find what you're looking for - remember, no question is silly, we've all been there (arrived here from Cheshire in March) and are happy to pass on our lessons learnt.

Keep an eye on any North West meetings that are regularly organised in your area - Stevie D is the man for that. You'll get to meet many 'local forumers'.

Another excellent source of information is the 'search' facility on this forum, but maybe you've already used that in your quest to find 'Creepy Crawlies of NZ' :laugh

I believe that StevieD will be organising a 'North West Meet' for September. Do try to come along....there are always new people needed to keep the meets going, because the 'oldies' are going (or have already gone) to NZ ! Plus, it's lovely to know that you have met and made friends with other forumites and that you will therefor have contacts in NZ when you get there.

Hi and welcome from another NW meeter, we're from Huddersfield but have been regular attenders of the NW meets since July 05, we have PR and are just waiting for the house to sell before we are off to Palmerston North, will most probably be at the next meet in September! ;)

Thanks for all your kind replies.
Karen has a job secured in Auckland. We are browsing through lists of rental properties hoping to get some kind of idea about where we will end up living; although I’m sure it’ll all become apparent when we get there.
We would be delighted to come along to a NW meet if we can. Btw, would there be any advantage to going along to the next expo? Is anyone else going?
