We are about to sent our ITA off to NZ House and were wondering whether if you include a job offer with it does this information go on the blue stickers like it does on the work visa/permit.

We want to know because there may be better job offer in the pipeline but not until closer to Xmas and we have to get out ITA in before October.

If we got PR with a particular job offer does this mean that hubby has to work with them for a minimum period.

Also, what do you put in the covering letter with the ITA?????????

Thanks

Joanne

Hi Joanne

The job offer info doesn't go on the blue stickers if you get PR. It's just a visa sticker allowing you to remain in ( leave and they'll let you back in) NZ.

If you get PR with a job offer you don't have to work for that employer for a minimum period or for ever either. You can leave and take up another job. :nice1

When we sent our ITA in we didn't have a job offer, so in our covering letter we just mentioned the length of our relationship (again), that we had done a reccie trip, searching jobs etc and that we had enough to support ourselves if we didn't get a job, also how we saw ourselves fitting in to NZ etc. Just a page or so.

There's an excellent thread with a copy of a covering letter in, I think it's one of Gil's or Zardells.

If you were granted residency on the basis of a job offer (i.e. that job offer gave you enough points to gain PR, and you would not have got PR without that job offer) then section 18A restrictions will be applied to your passport if you have not yet started the job or if you have not completed three months of work in that job at the point you were granted PR. This restriction will be written onto your blue sticker reading something like "you may reside permanently in Nz subject to satisfactorily meeting restrictions of section 18A etc." If you come to NZ and do not take up the job offer you were granted (or a similar job based on your qualifications/experience) within the first SEVEN months of arriving then your residency becomes invalid. Once you complete your 3 months work you can return the passport to NZIS to have new stickers put in with the section 18A statement removed.

There is a note on this in the ITA pack.

Hope this helps (please correct me if i've got any details wrong! i think this is right - I looked into this very deeply when applying for PR due to my personal circumstances, i.e. returning to UK after a few months).

PS Smiler is absolutely right although note that this will apply if you were granted PR WITHOUT a job offer. This was quite common back in the days when points threshold was 100. Since the points threshold has increased to 140 most people will need a job offer to reach that figure (we certainly did) and this technically commits you to taking that job offer up when you arrive (or a similar job based on skills and experience). I think NZIS has probably done this to ensure job offers are real (not your uncle's mate's dad doing you a favour) , employers are not messed around and job offers outside of Auckland (attracting 10 bonus points) are taken up rather than you flying into Auckland and just staying there!
I guess if you arrived in NZ and didn't want to take your job offer up, you could find another SIMILAR job within 3 months and you would be fine. It's probably safest though to take up the job and consider yourself 'free' after 3 months.
Either way, it's good to consider 18A restrictions in your decision making process.
All the best, hannah

Thanks Hannah

I have just read the Residence Guide again (why didn't i do that properly in the first place) and that clears things up.

Thanks again
Joanne.
