Hello all,
would or does anyone have the slightest idea what the annual running / maintenance costs are for keeping your own pool ?
The kids have just hit me with their wish list. :uhoh :eek :wah
Cheers

Hi if its Auckland you are moving to and its central forget it. We saw a house great garden room for a pool (Just) the garden was for sale separately at 300 K. Pools are being filled in and sold as a section, talking to someone last night who had done just that.

How odd, I just wonder why ?
Is it because pools are not liked in the city or is the western influence of the greed factor kicking in. Oh well, It seems a city is a city, no matter where it is in the world. Bit of a shame really !
And no Michelle, We are not planning to settle or work in Auckland. Somewhere a little more rural we think.
Cheers & thanks for the info

John ... not wanting to veer off topic, but you're dead right when you say a city is a city ... wherever it is in the world.
You are SO right ....... why leave city life in the UK to live city life in NZ ... I just don't get it.
Auckland is overcrowded, too much traffic, and not the cleanest place in the world either. As for a pool, if I lived in Auckland I'd definately have one, if only to drown myself to get away from the ratrace. :laugh :laugh
Have noticed that alot of houses have those above ground pools. I'm sure they have an actual name but I don't know what it is.
They are a really good size with rigid sides. Alot of them are surrounded by decking to make them look better. Don't know whether your kids would approve of this type of pool but it may work out to be a viable option for you.

You do see them but I think it comes down to the weather, our last house had one and the previous owner had filled it in too much hassle and not enough use.
Slightly off here but if you are going to live in a city Auckland beats the hell out of Leeds and probably most other cities in the UK.
