We'll get there eventually, won't we ????? :roll

Due to unforseen circumstances we are not coming next month, instead we are coming in January - for definate as our PR expires in Feb !!!!

Since we've been here in the UK we've been hit with expense, after expense, such as both our cars needed work doing on them, Keith's motorbike has just had almost £500 spent on it, his flat needed new washing machine, fridge, freezer etc., etc., Which we most certainly were not expecting to pay out on. All in all we've probably spent the best part of £2k on all these things.

We needed to do all of them as we need our cars to get around, and Keith will be renting his flat out when we leave so had to replace those items, if only for ourselves while we are here.

We did seriously consider just coming anyways, but not having a fortune behind us, and this being a major move, I want us to have the best possible start and not have to struggle when we get there by scrimping & saving from the start, and if staying an extra 12 weeks will make that difference, then that's the lesser of the evils in our book.

So Keith has just accepted a well paid job, which they have no idea he will be leaving in a few months, but it's better money than temping and for a complete change in our characters we have decided that we are going to do this for ourselves, we owe it to ourselves.

I'm applying for jobs just to earn the money to replace what we've had to spend out on also.

On the upside I get to spend Christmas with my daugter and Keith his son, he also gets to see his parents, both of whom are not in the best of health, they all know that there's no expensive presents forthcoming....

I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and despite being gutted in making this decision, I do feel it's for the best and meant to be.

So we will see you guys on the other side in January now, and boy, are we ever looking forward to that...............

Hope the last few months leading up to your emigration aren't too stressful and it all goes to plan!

Best of luck,
Michael

Deb ... so sorry to hear about your latest hitch, but hang in there, you WILL get here in the end. We had to postpone our departure by 12 weeks (due to house probs) and to be honest, it worked out for the better. Instead of everything being a last minute rush, we had extra time to cross the T's and dot the I's.

Those extra weeks 'at home' were great, try not to get too downhearted, things will be fine, and YES, I agree that everything happens for a reason.

The extra money you'll be earning in those 12 weeks will come in very handy once you get here.

We'll be back in NZ on 19th Jan after our trip home for Xmas - are you still planning on coming to this area? Will definately meet up again if you are .... seems like years since you, Keith, Babette and I met up for lunch.

Cheer up, don't worry, January will be here soon enough.

Our one-way flights were booked 9 months in advance and even required and a quick 2 week visit during that time to satisfy the visa requirement. Two weeks in, I can firmly say the long wait was worth it - everything has been sorted out and we can enjoy the feeling of being settled and 'being at home' in NZ.

I know exactly how you feel! We were all set for moving on the 5th October but now we will be staying for another 12-18 months, I was really upset about the whole thing but have now come to terms with it all. :uhoh I'm still so excited for the move but just have to be patient................again! We are now heading off in October for a visit (as our flights were already booked and we need to activate our visas) and I cannot wait!

Like you say - everything happens for a reason. Hang in there, hopefully we will all get there in the end! :D

we're going through this at the moment. our house isn't selling (been on the market since may - 2 viewings) and we are now looking at having to face the fact that we wont get there this year. on the positive side we earn a lot more here than we will there. on the down side this commute is bl**dy well killing me! i can't wait to be able to walk to work rather than spending 90mins a day on the tube with someones armpit in my face and another 90mins on a stuffy horrid train.

still - i'll appreciate it more when i get there.....

Ohhh Keith & Debbie - I do feel for you :( But you know what, like you said, things do happen for a reason. Enjoy these extra weeks that have been 'given to you'. We'll still be here ready and waiting for you when you arrive in the new year.

Thinking of you ;)
