At work the management fill the canteen fridge with beer every Friday :clap . Most of the staff hang around for an hour to have a beer and a chat, before heading off home for the weekend.
I assumed that this was just a nice place to work, but someone told me that this is reasonably common practice in NZ companies.
Do you get free beer on a Friday too?

Yep, Woz gets free beer on a Friday too - the fridge is always stacked and they are allowed to choose which ones they have!! Friday is souvlaki day too!
They also have smoko for 15 mins in morning and pm, and 2 company bashes a year!
Tough eh?

Beer, wine , alcopops, JD coke mix things..... :cheers
I was told it used to be once a year, then they introduced once a month and now it's every week. It certainly makes it a much more chilled out environment and everyone gets along fine (all week & not just Friday!!).

Very Friday 4pm - into the lunchroom and sit about for an hour with a beer or a wine. It's really social and a nice easy start into the weekend. We have free snacks too - and about once a month pizza on Friday lunchtimes.
We also get bought cake on our birthdays, and have bbqs in the summer. There is a tennis court right outside my window and a free gym onsite.

We have a drinks fridge that gets opened on Fridays and sometimes other days during the week. It's not free, but I think beer is $2. We do have free drinks once or twice a month for certain events.

Snap! its $2 honesty tin in fridge for us too, but when someone leaves its free and snacks too, I end up buying the snacks and making sure they are in the pie warmer by 3pm so they are ready for 4.30pm
I haven't been staying for the friday night weekly one as being the only female I felt a bit out of place..... plus I am rather busy at the minute!
we have smoko 2 times a day, and free tea/coffee & milo...and snacks at discounted price ...with IOU sheet! :nice1

Oh how i long for a greek holiday:yes but we are talking beer here, and unfortunately my employer Fonterra frown upon this sort of socialising as in their eyes we are professional drivers so we have to act this way. So no beers for us at the end of the working week:wah

Nope! No free Friday beers. Our boss is not allowed to socialise with us because his religion forbids it (not saying which one but E******* B********, in the news recently) To be honest he is a top geezer and gave us enough money for us to go out and get drunk the other week although it is only occasional, and most fridays his wife makes a packed lunch fo reach Electrician.- cant say fairer than that

They're been known to have beer on Friday here in the office for the poor overworked analysts. It's been known to lead to timed races around the floor with the winner running through a finish tape made of toilet paper at the finish line.
