:clap About the time! we got received our PR yesterday, so we just starting the ball rolling moving to nz in next month if not having more hiccups as had bit complication times with visa and PR!
Right thought we should introduce us....
Hi everyone, Our name is Sophia and Gary and we have two young children, Ashley, 3, and Romilly, 7months at moment. We are moving to christchurch, from leicestershire, where gary got job in south christchurch's classic car garage. We have been to NZ before in april to get job and to get feel of the place, also to see my sister who live in Auckland, so she can see her new niece who was 9wks old when we flew out (yes, we were mad!!). We decided then to go ahead and move as got fed up with UK especially with their poor control of immigration border and quality of life for children, so it is our duty to provide our children with better lifestyle etc. We hope to meet other people with young children in christchurch! This is our first post, but will be around!

Hi Sophia

Are you the Sophia on Babyworld who's been asking about baby equipment in NZ? - I've answered a few of your queries on there. Welcome to the forum anyway!

Hey, I didn't realise your hubby was going to be working at that garage - my hubby drools over it whenver he's over that way (he really believes he's going to get a car from there one day - sad deluded fool....)

Have you managed to sell your house yet? I didn't realise it was so soon you were coming. Anyway, good luck again and hope to finally see you soon. Have you decided where to live yet?

Hi - Sophia.
Mega coincidence - my real name is Romilly! I've never met anyone else with my name before.
My nickname is Kerry as I lived there for a while and when I started back at work in London everyone would ask for the Kerry girl. So many people thought it was my name it kind of stuck...

I know it is stupid question, also not relate to nz, did you like your name anyway? i hope romilly will be pleased with our choice of her name as it is so different but not rubbish like famous people!

I do like it - I like the fact that it is unusual, but isn't wacky or dated, or have a ridiculous spelling. I like that it can be shortened (I get called Ro, Romy or Milly depending).
I don't like the fact that some people mis-pronounce it though, even when I have clearly stated how it is said. Mine is said Rom-illy, not Row-milly.

I'm sure she'll love it.

thanks, we are taking brave move as still haven't sold house but the PR's is running out if we don't make a move! NZIS gave us three months for my husband to start work from the date of PR was issued (19th sept) then stay this job for least 3 months or lose PR, eh? :roll

I think Romilly is a lovely name. We agonised for ages over naming our son as we didn't want him to go to school and be in a classroom with 5 other children all called the same. We opted for Isaac in the end, which hopefully won't be too common.

Good Luck with your move. We are hoping to be in Christchurch soon too.

Best of luck with the move, Sophia. I'm keeping everything crossed for you that you sell your house very soon! I hope the children are good on the flight!! I'm dreading mine in March - that's the only fear I have - a bored Callum (7) and Aidan (4) for 28 hours!! :roll
We picked Irish names (to please the old blood 2 generations back) but with English spellings so they wouldn't have trouble getting their Essex teachers and friends to pronounce them!!
Be thinking of you on your journey and may the road rise up to meet you...
