hi everyone

is anyone else out there getting stressed out about what to take on the plane for immediate use in your rental? Its driving me nuts! We have 3 kids so i feel we will need a bit of stuff to muddle through till container arrives - we cant really afford to start buying new stuff (when we already have it) and I know finding good second hand stuff will take time.

Im thinking , travel cot, lihtweight air beds, bedding, kettle, printer (need for work) and all sorts of misc. stuff.

What sort of things are other people taking? Sorry if i appear neurotic about this but as i said its driving me nuts!!!!

PS2 and portable DVD player + games and DVDs and cd's in a wallet type thingy not individual cases.

Quilt cover, pillowcase and sheet for each person. (we are dumping our duvets and buying new when we get there.) + a couple of big towels each, tea towels.

Selection of kitchen utensils - can opener, potatoe peeler, wooden spoon, etc

We intend to buy a cheap everyday set of crockery and cutlery as the everyday ones we have here are a mismash of stuff anyway - good stuff going in container.

Persil washing powder tablets (one son has sensitive skin so need to have them till I find something that agrees with his skin!)

Lightweight 'holiday' lilos.

Possibly a selection of screwdrivers and bits of tools.

and thats just for starters!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I'm freaked mainly from all of the new security restrictions for UK and USA travel. To be honest I'm a bit lost on what I can and cannot take.

We are hoping to taking a mini-pc with us and a large camera bag as they are too fragile to be put in the cargo hold or container. Just hope airport security in uk and usa don't freak.

For en-flight stuff, we are planning several books, a mini connect 4 and chess set, and an i-pod. We've no kids so less issues in trying to keep kids entertained.

Cheers

Marcia, you can get Persil sensitive here, in the low suds (if you are bringing your front loader) and in the top loader powder too, just not tablets!

Between us we bought a two sets of bedding/towels, chopping board, plastic cutlery & tin opener and a couple of sharp knives, the small George foreman grill! Oh, and the corkscrew/bottle opener! ;)

We bought cheap quilts/pillows, crockery, one saucepan & a fry pan, the saucepan doubled as the kettle! We then hired the basics of furniture to get us through. It did help that we came with Air NZ when they still had the 64kg limit...
