Hi, we're in Sunny (HOT) California, and hope to be in NZ within the year. Our best Friends are leaving in a week for Auckland and we're hoping their experiences will teach us, as we make our way. I'm certain we'll be popping in with questions, as this forum seems very informative! Good luck to all who are struggling, and Congratulations to all who've made it.

Hi Ana&Steve

Welcome to the forum. :cheers

This place is a mine of info. Having your friends road test New Zealand will certainly help you too.

Good luck with your plans. :nice1

Welcome Ana&Steve :cheers Where are you in Cali, I have friends in Cambria and Big Bear :)

We're in San Diego County, Escondido to be exact. We've been to Big Bear a few times, for skiing, camping, and horse-back riding; and we've driven through Cambria many times on the way North. :)
Our big claim to fame in Escondido is The Wild Animal Park. If you're ever in San Diego, and can't decide which Park attraction to visit, I'd recommend The WAP first! Very cool to see a pseudo-African plain with dozens of co-habitating animals. (The predators are kept seperate :roll )
Thanks for the well-wishes, we'll see you around!

Hi Ana,

My husband is from Oceanside and we used to live in Vista. Never did make it to Wild Animal Park, or Sea World for that matter. Welcome to the forum!

Hello, we have just joined this thread, Graham and Janet and we are thinking of going to NZ next year after our eldest son goes in Feb to live. Our other son and his family have been there for 7 years and they want us to join them so we are hoping to find out all about what to do and how to go about it on here plus their experiences too, it looks an interesting site but not used to getting around it so it may take a while to find our way around

Hi Graham and Janet, welcome to the Forums! It sounds like you'll be going under the family stream, it's very nice that NZ offers a way to keep family together! :) We've been on this forum for a few months now, and I feel sooo much more educated about our move. You may want to do a retirement search, as there were a few threads about it recently. Don't hesitate to ask questions, someone will know the answers! :D

LOL! No worries. We've "talked" in other threads. We'll definitely be reaching out to you guys once we land there. We're going to make one last trip out to SoCal so I'll PM you beforehand. Not sure if we'll catch you before you leave but maybe we can grab a fish taco at Rubio's or something and compare notes. Fish tacos in NYC leave something to be desired.
