Hi,

Does anyone know what the average processing time for skilled migrant visa at Beijing branch of NZIS is?

I searched NZIS web site, but even though other branches post their average processing time on the web, Beijin branch doesn't.

Also, I asked my case office for the information by email, but I got no reply. The application lodgement confirmation letter (in mail) just said the processing time is "case by case".

But I think it is so strange that Beijin office does not provide the applicants any information on processing time. Other countries like Canada and Australia always provide processing time statistics too.

It could be a month, 1 year or 2 years... gee. Also, Beijin office processes applicants from outside of China (in Asia) and frequently asks us to fly into China for an interview.

This is very inconvenient. I am only home for few months, then have to work in the U.S. and Europe for 2-3 months on a job assignment. I travel a lot for my job. And If Beijin branch gives some kind of estimate on the visa processing time, I can avoid business trips around the time in advance so i can go to China for the interview.

So how long does it take to get the PR from Beijing branch? 6 months? 1 year? 2 years? Please please share some information.

Thanks in advance!

hi spitz2

perhaps beijing and shanghai are the same... we belong to the shanghai branch. it's taken us forever to receive our ITA and get a schedule for interview. from selected to interview date was 1 year and 3 months. then we got "global priorities" - our vo from shanghai got called to nzis auckland and those assigned to her are still waiting in different levels - waiting for ITA, waiting for scheduled interview, waiting for WTR or PR whichever they will grant us...

singapore branch is quick. bangkok is average.

Hi Annierobrigado,

Thanks for sharing the information. It took me 1.5 months to get ITA after my EOI was selected, so probably Beijin branch takes 1-1.5 years to process the ITA too (I am applying w/o a job offer).

What do you mean "global priorities"? You meant your case office was called into NZIS Auckland?

hi spitz

yes, because our case officer was called to nzis auckland, our papers (and everyone else's who were assigned to her) were placed on "hold" and that processing would begin again in july (so now we're queued) unless we get a job offer in the meantime, which we should tell the case officer at once so she can prioritize our application.

up to now we don't understand what global priorities mean exactly, but what we got from the grapevine is that there were many applications from china which they had to do first. don't know if that is true, but it really doesn't matter; as long as they do ours now in the time they promised, and we get our visas soon!

cheers

Hi Annie,

That is great your visa is coming soon. I guess I just have to be patient but if the assessment takes 1 yr, I am thinking to fly to NZ for few weeks to look for a job. I do not know how difficult to get a job when my ITA is on pending status though. My hope was to move to NZ this December, but w/o a job offer, it seems unrealistic.
