Are all teachers in NZ required to take classes about the Maori? I have no problem if they do, because learning about this culture would be really neat. However, if there is such a requirement, I would like to attempt to complete it before I moved...if possible.

What level are you teaching at?
For primary - there is no such requirement - unless of course you wanted to teach in a school with a high proportion of Maori stuidents - in which case it would be helpful.
I have taught for 10 years now in primary with limited Maori language. Not that I'm not willing to learn - but time restraints hinder me from doing it.

I would be teaching at the secondary level...my degrees are in Biology, Geology and Physics.
