Is it adequate to just hose off and scrub our bikes to ship via container from the U.S-or do they need to be pressure washed? Im assuming as long as they don't have any mud on them they are OK..advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
Amy.

I just blasted our with the pressure washer and had no problems. Some people don't even empty the lawnmower, these are the idiots they are looking for.

Hi
We just scrubbed the tyres and pedals, we had no probs with MAF. As long as no visible dirt/mud is on the bikes this seems sufficent.

We hosed and scrubbed ours squeaky clean.
They weren't even looked at by MAF.

OK, silly question from me. What about the lubrication on the chain, gears etc. Is it OK to leave that on? If I don't the bikes will be very, very rusty after a 10 week journey.

We cleaned stuff like the chain, the chain on the chain saw, tools etc and then lightly oiled them with that thin oil in a can.
Can't remember the name sorry. :o

I think we just washed the tires and made sure all the mud and dirt was off the rest of the bike. I do remember finding a piece of grass in the chain the first time I oiled it in NZ. Oops!! I guess I'm one of those people they're looking out for.

Thanks smiler. :nice1
Howie, I'm reporting you to the highest authorities. I wouldn't think you'll be lasting much longer in NZ. :D

I scrubbed mine before the shippers packed it - didn't bother to put any extra lube on - while they're not here yet, I really can't see that MAF will have too much of a problem, there was no obvious dirt, it hadn't been off road that much!!
