A friend of Dave's who is a bit of a steam nut ( The friend not Dave) has said that we must go and see this fascinating place. As we will be living in North Auckland I do not fancy travelling all that way to see something that could be seen by putting my kettle on. Apparently it is in Palmerston North and I am pretty certain that someone on this forum lives there but I can't remember who. If you live in this area have you seen this place and is it worth travelling a distance to see it?

Kindest regards

Caroline and Dave

I imagine Dave's friend is recommending it as he is, as you said in your first sentence - a steam nut. He is obviously going to be keen on the place!

I personally wouldn't make a special trip all the way down to Tokamaru just to see a steam museum. Maybe you could just go to the steam section at Motat and pretend?
