Hoping to pop over there with the family, anyone know of a good resort/hotel for young kids (5,3 & baby)?

Anyone been recently with any words of wisdom?

Also can you point me in the direction of a good thread about flying with a very young baby - that's assuming we manage to get that all important photo moment for the passport. Are they really that strict about eyes open, mouth closed, no shadows etc etc for babies?

Cheers

Tia

You lucky so and so... cant help with fiji except go green with envy.

But, yes, they are picky with the photos, although no-one i know had theirs rejected, if in doubt, go to a passport photo place and get them to take it, either that or just take hundreds yourself if you have a digicam and you will get one eventually! Think I took about 50. Then get them printed professionally.

Flying tips, we gave pamol 30 mins before take off and landing, helps any ear pain feed if poss on ascent and descent, the sucking helps ears. Get the bulkhead seats with the bassinet. Not much else you can do with them when they are that small. if you are flying with someone other than Air NZ take a cover for the bassinet to keep it a bit darker. Air nz ones have covers over the top.

Good luck with all the packing.....

Tia Maria and milk - tastes like Terry's Chocolate Orange - :D

Fiji - when can we go???

On topic, I think as long as it looks like the baby, they won't be TOO bothered, I mean, they must surely understand how hard it is to get a "proper" photo

Most of the "Resort" hotels in Fiji will probably suit you, but they are not cheap. There is one place really geared up for kids and its near the Warwick Hotel but I cant think of its name. I think its in partnership with the Warwick.

Flying with baby is a doddle compared to flying with 2 or 3 year olds.
Especially to Fiji which is like only about 3 hours, your baby should sleep thru it, but may get trouble with the ears/pressure on landing and cry, but this is only temporary.

Lucky old you....Fiji is gorgeous!

Try the Outrigger on the Lagoon - fabulous place, great facilities for children, (including childrens club, baby-sitting etc), and of course right on the beach. We stayed there last year and the children and us enjoyed it.

They're really strict on photos for passports - one of my friends got rejected 4 times for their baby's photo! I took my baby to Camera House - for $10 they took about 50 photos & found one that was suitable... just waiting to get the passport through the post any day now...

When we went to Fiji it was a bit more of a couply resort so I won't recommend it to you, but have a great time!!! Fabulous place & the people are just beautiful! Try & see some of the real culture rather than staying on the resort 24/7 if you can manage it with a littlie.

Hi there, sarahw, would be interested to hear about "couply"resort in Fiji. Also other things to do for a relatively low-key somewhat adventurous couple (we don't like big resorts, usually go for something more boutique-like or very very "local" places)?
