After 10 weeks searching and over 40 applications in various fields and 3 interviews I have finally found work as a Welder / Sheet Metal Worker, its only a months work initially then who knows but as ive been away from my "trade" for 17 years, I needed a break to get into the workplace and thankfully ive got one with a small Hawkes Bay Company, :nice1 ive been close with other jobs but my lack of recent experience was holding me back, so Im hoping this will be a permanent job or at least I will have updated my recent skills, which will make me more employable in future.
Will be a shock to the system starting at 7.30 till 5 pm but hey i'll be WORKING :D :D

Sorry for rambling but im looking forward to getting into the Kiwi workplace at long last and I just wanted to tell someone as all my lot are at work or school :raebanana

Congratulations!!!
:cheers :cheers :cheers

My husband is a time served sheet metal worker - but gave his trade up about 20 years ago too.... no local work (NE England) meant him working away for weeks on end - we hated it as a newly married couple. So he retrained in computing - which is where he is working still.

I bet things will have changed a bit in 17 years!
:yes

Great news, you must be very pleased. Hope it all goes well and that your month contract turns into something long term.

Well done on the job front. As you say get in there and get some NZ experience and then move on. Who know's 1 month may turn into 1 year. Good luck with it
