Thought I'd introduce us after being directed to the website from Marcia (the stock car fan)

Hi! We're Chris, Sally and Nancy (age 2)

Sally and I lived in New Zealand from Sept 02 to Nov 03 in Tauranga and Wellington. I had to return to the UK to look after my dad's business when he became ill. Sally followed on shortly afterwards.
Well, what I thought would be a short term departure turned out to be slightly longer than expected (complicated by the birth of our daughter - Nancy).
Anyway, we're looking to get back and will hopefully, be putting in our Returning Residents Application (RRA) in to the London office.
To be honest I don't think that we have a cat-in-hells chance of getting an RR Visa but, if you don't try....
So, if we don't, looks as if we'll have to go through the whole application process again :( . So we might be forum members for a while.

Marcia

Now you know that Kev is one of the most respected (and feared) stock car racers in the UK amongst the fans. I'll defo be a 64 fan out in NZ. Along with 51M Rodney Wood and Kerry Remnant.

If I catch up with you, I'll let you have the Bradford 93 video of the clutch start meeting where Kev gets pushed around the Bfd Bend on his side.
PS Might see you at Bv on the 1st

Welcome to our world Mr Wolfysmith. There a few of us Kev64 fans down here, which i'm sure Marcia has told you about, and i'm sure she has put the invite out for the NW meet to you.

And good luck with the RR.

RRV submitted today. Fingers crossed but not hopeful. We may be here for some time....

Well it didn't take long for the letter to come back from NZIS in London.

As I suspected, we have been refused an RRV on the grounds of the length of time out of NZ :(

So, that means we'll have to go through the whole process again :roll

Question: I keep reading about these Expression of Interest applications. Do we have to complete one of these first now? If not, is adviseable to complete one of these first before going for a RV?

Help and guidance would be very welcome.

it depends on what visa you are hoping to apply for.

expression of interest is the first stage of applying for permanent residence under the skilled migrant category. its an online application that calculates how many points you have.

if you are applying for any other type of visa or for a residence visa under a different category (eg partnership) then its not relevant.

Cheers Trigirl

Last time we just applied for a RV. There was no expression of interest. We went under the skilled migrant catagory.
Now it seems everyone applies for these EOI's. I just wanted to know if these were required prior to RV's or, whether you could just apply for a RV without completing an EOI?
We'll have to go back under the skilled migrant catagory again

so yes you will need to fill out an EOI - thats how you apply for the skilled migrant category these days. there is no way of applying without doing an EOI.

You can find the starting page here
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/workandlivepermanently/howdoiapply/default.htm

theres also a link at the top right to do a "quick check" to see if you've got enough points to submit your EOI
